Maybe that is true of some (and is that any different than beautiful american white woman being with old rich guys for their money?) but my wife got her green card on her own, we actually held off on the marriage until it came through, since a lot of money/time/effort was already spent on the process. From what I can tell of the Japanese woman I've met over the years is that their taste is different, they tend to care more about personality than looks. YMMV

If you get to the point where you are actually considering marrying a woman from another country, write this down: Direct Consular Filing. Not all U.S. embassies will do DCF, but if they do, it is unquestionably the way to go. Don't rely on some web page for specifics - call the embassy in question and ask, and they will be happy to provide you with information, and if you are at that point, the relevant forms. I speak from experience. My Japanese wife and I got legally married in Japan (filed papers at the Japanese equivalent of City Hall - no ceremony), and went to the embassy in Tokyo early the next day to file the already filled out DCF paperwork. I then flew back to the U.S. Three weeks later, my wife had her visa. The next time she came to the U.S., she was issued a green card on the spot, with full work privileges and no international travel restrictions already included, and at no extra charge. And as we later found out, had the added bonus of never having to go to the INS office! (This in itself is huge. Once you have had to go to an INS office, you will realize what a sheer pleasure it is to go to the DMV!) This was back in 2000, so some details may have changed since then, but if it is an available option to you, it is most likely to be faster, better, and cheaper than any other option.
I have never heard of that but yea if you can do that by all means do it. When we did the K1 Visa, one of the requirements is that you go there to see you're future "wife". They want proof that you have a relationship together. When you're wife does her interview to get her visa, they also want a lot of proof that you are still in a solid relationship: 1) Pictures 2) E-mails 3) Chats online 4) Phone calling records Sometimes at the interview they will be approved and sometimes they wont, a lot of people say they interview has a lot to do with the person that is doing it instead of the person being interviewed.

Go with Indian women. Well-educated, cultured, polite, faithful, and very gracious. No concept of being *****y, using people, etc. Looks can be "challenging" compared to Eastern European women, but most life partners' looks fade after a few years--the beauty has to remain in the relationship, or it will fizzle too. I find S American women tend to bloat up bigger than water buffaloes after a few years. Go down to Argentina or Peru where a friend of mines wife is from. Lots of mixed race women ( Spanish, German Italian, Indian) that do not look like potato's.
