Has anyone eaten at the Forge before in Miami? Last night we sat down at our table @ 10:30. Didn't have an order taken from us until 10:45. 3 of the 7 main courses had to be returned to the kitchen. haven't had any issues like this at prime 112 or toher Miami Steak Houses before. For an $1,100 meal I was grossly underwhelmed. I noticed on our table that they had an advertisement for their 40th anniversary celebration. I can't imagine that they would have made it this long with our experience having been the norm. Maybe we caught them on an off night. Is it worth giving them a second try?? On a positive note the owner drives a 430 coupe with the license plate 4orge.

There were 7 of us. A couple bottles of wine, a few drinks mixed in. We all had salads, and everyone but 1 had a steak, with 1 person getting chicken. It was just crazy, would have been worth it if the food and service were up to standard as the company was great, but all-in-all it was a crappy night.

I have been several times and had some good times there. I prefer prime 112 over the forge though in my opinion. You probably caught them on an off night.

I have yet to have received anything but a great meal and stellar service at Prime. I liked the physical environment at Forge but the service was definitely lacking as was the food quality. I'm not a big Filet eater, but when there is a bone-in Filet on the menu I almost 100% of the time will order it. I didn't care for the sauce or the over salted flavoring in this instance. To top it off the size of the side dishes was a joke. If I got 5 fork-fulls of creamed spinach from the dish I would have been ecstatic.

have you tried prime Italian? I haven't been there yet, but the driver taking me to the airport was raving about it. I wonder if it's the same owners as 112?!?

The owners of prime 112 own several restaurants in south beach including prime italian. It has some pasta and pizzas on the menu which help keep the bill down slightly. The food and service is good and its a little bit calmer than 112. The valet parking is crazy $$$ though at both places!!!!

The Forge has closed. Supposed to reopen in November, we will see. Most high end restaurants sales down 35% this year (Devitos, Prime 112)

There just is not enough difference in quality for the money to pick a place like The Forge over one of the restaurants that has been around for 20 years like Abrracci or Christy's, both in the Gables. A place like The Forge should not have an "off night".

If you want expensive and quality, try Casa Tua. Me, I will stick with Abrracci. I can see the ghost of Senna when I go there.

Prime 112 has become such a circus IMO. nice steakhouse, nice location, the food's nice too; but its no surprise it's become a place to see and be *scene*--common on the beach. South Florida's best steakhouse is in Ft. Lauderdale--Jackson's.

Prime 112= Good steaks but too much plasticky wannabes wanting to be seen there.
    Forge = Overpriced.
Nemo's = Same owners as P112, more variety of food, less "wannabe seen there" types.
Big Pink = Same owners as P112 and Nemo's, cafeteria style food, great breakfast or casual food, horrible service.

Big +1 to Abracci, all the good things said are true. If looking for steak, Ruth's Chris is across the street.

You'll usually find me at Two Chef's in the Coral Gables/Pinecrest area: A few blocks from home, $15 uncorking fee, good food and great souflee. Go for dinner, not lunch.

Chef Adrianne's is good for dinner (not so much for lunch) but it is in way southwest Kendall. Young Chef, Napa style restaurant, good prices, worth the drive once in a while. Not what you'd expect when you look at it from the outside.

The owners are usually at the prior two over dinner, so dinner is much better.

I want to try the 'soul food' place in Sunrise, but I forgot what it's called and can't find it now.

Bouchon du Grove is good for a casual bite, long waits for a table on weekends.

The restaurant at Grove Isle (forgot it's name) is good, pricey and quite romantic.

The Indian place on Miracle Mile is really good ("Mint Leaf").

Next weekend I may try Au Pied de Cochon- been wanting to get there and try their 'trotters'. Also want to try Nobu, although these 'celebrity chef' places are usually gimmicky, expensive and overrated.

    Man, I love food!

Everytine Senna came through Miami, he would stay at the Grand Bay in the Grove. Then he would call Nino, the owner of Abbracci, and Nino would go to the Grand Bay, pick up Senna, take him back to Abbracci and they would have dinner together.

The other thing Senna did in Miami was to go to the now defunct Orange Blossum Hobbies. He was an avid R/C guy. One time, he was so greatful to the help at OBH, that he took the salesman that always helped him, the salesman's wife, in Senna's airplane to the Canadian GP. Senna was sort of strange, but a good soul.

I find the steaks at The Capital Grille to be the best in Ft.Lauderdale. I was not impressed at all with Jackson's on Las Olas but perhaps I went on an 'off night'.
