Seriously, how bad do you have to be to be replaced by Mike Skinner and Johnny Benson?

NASCAR must be harder than F1? Or JV has lost a step or the titles he won were because of the gaps between his car and the next challengers????????

Please, skill has nothing to do with it. It was Davis' caterer. The pate de foie gras was not free range, the bouillabaisse was inconsistent and the Beaujolais lacked structure. Something had to be done and JV DEALT WITH IT. Something Skinner and Benson combined wouldn't have the stomach to mention.

How about just very different. JV just happens to suck at both... :D (relax it's a joke)

he actually ran quite well during the timed practice sessions and even in the initial qual session. the format is the problem and remember the said and carpentier also did not make the field. not because of talent. this is a restrictor plate race and best car wins!

bill davis racing is second tier team at best and if you don't have hendrick horsepower...you aint gonna win.

not a knock on jv as i think he may be the best driver in the series. let's see how he does on the road courses this year.

i don't think ms could push one of those bricks around much faster. the series is set up so the big hp boys win. i too am waiting to see what happens when they need to turn right.

Are you crazy? That is NOT a top team, and they need sponsorship dollars badly. This is a case of finding money, not talent. *shakes head*

    true dat also!

it simply amazes me as to how badly nascar NEEDS dale jr. to win this year. the rating will suffer again this year if he does not.

he is the oly franchise driver on the grid...make no mistake!

If you own a NASCAR team do want John and Mike driving, or Jacques Villeneuve? With the series filled with simple, one syllable names, Jacques doesn't fit in too well.

actually, all of the high profile road racers that come over from europe or even us open wheel series do play well into the nascar marketing.

it is marketed as the best racing series in the world...the best drivers, best competition, best fans.

how great is it for the nascar folks to toot their horn by saying that the fact that these famous racers are all defecting the big euro series to come to nascar...and oh btw...they are getting thier heads handed to them by the great talent already in nascar!

    go figure.

I don't think that any true NASCAR fans are going to be rooting on Juan Pablo, Dario, Jacques, or anyone else whose first name isn't Dale, Jeff, Tony, Jimmie, Kyle, Kasey, or Kurt.

  14. ferraripete

of course they don't. the point of my post is that they come over to race here and get thier buts kicked by all of the homegrown usa, apple pie, born and raised talent. the nascar fans LOVE to see the roadies and "feriners" leave w/ tail between legs!!!

the reality is that there are only a handfull of teams w/ cars capable of winning races and within that handfull...sits the hendrick elite!

i always watch daytona, brickyard and the two road races...they are the only places where the tier two teams have a chance w/ a hotshoe roadie at the wheel!

Gotcha, beating the washed up foreign drivers gives NASCAR drivers "credibility". Hopefully Juan Pablo can dominate the road races again this year :)

You notice that NASCRAP history overlooks the time one of it's races was won by a JAGUAR! Gasp, horror.

Put the show on the other foot.

'Mike Skinner was replaced on the Williams F1 team by Jack Villeneuve...'

I somehow don't think it's JV's skill: as in every other form of racing, ANYONE can drive - *IF* they bring money (to the team).

It's a shame you guys can't figure out you are comparing apples and oranges.
These American drivers in nascar have been driving stock cars all their lives, and we have a guy come over here (JV), having never
been in a stock car before, and he gets crashed out, and seemingly cut from the team ?
    Give me a break !
And don't compare JV to JPM - because JPM drove a handful of races in 2006 in preparation for 2007.

Let's go put Dale Jarrett or Bobby Labonte or Kyle Petty in an F1 car at Monaco and see how they do.
He11, let's put Jeff, Tony and Jimmy in an F1 car at Monaco and see how they do.
    I bet it's not pretty !

Anybody remembering "Trading paint" with NASCAR's darling Jeff Gordon vs JPM?

    Nuff said.

NASCAR is a tough competitive form of motor sports...while the cars are not as high tech as F1 cars, NASCAR races are much more hard fought by more drivers who could win any given race...I am an F1 fan and watch every race and try to attend one every couple of years or so..but, I do admit that a NASCAR race is more exciting to watch and it takes more skill to draft a heavy car at 200mph and then pass less than a foot from the car your passing all while 40 other cars going 200mph are all trying to do the same thing...I've done a Ricard Petty Experience and can tell you that those cars are difficult to control even at 150mph while negotiating banked curves...

I've done the Petty experience and two F1 experiences. Both kind of racing need skilled (and brave) drivers. But F1 is still harder as it is much more precise.
