FORMULA 1 2018 HEINEKEN CHINESE GRAND PRIX: PRACTICE 1/2/3 *** SPOILERS ***

When I think about the teams, McLaren is the joke of F1 at this point with their stupid predictions that make them look like fools. Williams on the other hand are just the sad sacks of F1. I mean they've had Mercedes power from the get-go under the new formula so it's clear they just can't build a car. They can't strategize, they can't do much of anything well. It's just sad for me to watch that because unlike McLaren, they're not a bunch of arrogant toolbags spouting off (I'm not including Stroll because it goes without saying he is universally disliked by everyone and each time he speaks he cements his place on the grid in that regard.)

 

Only caught the first part of FP1, and you could tell the wind was not making it easy out there!

IF we get all the Red Bulls to finish and Haas remembers to tighten the wheels, that could knock McLaren and the other teams back 4 spots from wherever they finished last week. Until some team steps it up and develops their car this season we just might have the Toro Rosso/Haas guys ahead of the rest.

 

Agreed except on the Williams front, they've had a great car since 2014. Strategy wise they have indeed been to conservative when they've been within a shout to win a race. Massa would've won Baku last year if the car didn't break. IMO their current car is good, certainly a clear evolution of last years car (which was an evolution of their 2014 onwards car), the reason it's terrible is quite simple: The drivers.

 

It's not the drivers, it's the sponsors. Wait . .. . I'm sorry. Redundant. Sorry . . . .

Lewis would have won if his car didn't break.
Seb would have won if he hadn't gotten childish.
Stroll would have placed 2nd if he knew how to drive.
and so on ..........................

 

McLaren has lost all credibility since testing. All winter every day they told us how they would be fighting for podiums now with Renault power. Even Renault's team thought McLaren would be stronger than them.

So far, Haas is kicking their butts in the time sheets and Gasly in the Toro Rosso is adding the sauce for the goose.

 

So if Stroll's car broke?

Massa outclassed Stroll at Baku until his car broke that was not due to his fault. Stroll cleaned up the podium that rightly was Massa's.

That's the breaks but let's also remember the facts. That is what you call a lucky podium rather than one hard fought and earned.

Good for Lance. But then the next race he qualified 17th.

Bad for Lance.

And the last three races of last year Lance embarrassed himself as Massa showed what the car could do. Then he complained Massa wasn't good at giving him tips. This coming from the guy who bought Massa's seat from under him.

Alonso should have won but either his car broke or not enough other cars broke.

Woulda, coulda, shoulda doesn't mean squat. This year Seb has won Aus and Bahrain, period.

 

Well I suppose even Lance deserves one fan boy.

The point was as Mayor said. Massa outclassified Stroll by a mile, and that car was competitive.

 

Massa was once world championship material, and although after his accident he lost a yard of pace and a gallon of confidence and fight, he was always a fast and classy act. Stroll didn’t want to learn from Massa, he’s a teenager that likely thinks daddy bought guile as well as a team......... newsflash lance, he didn’t, you are ****, and the world knows it, INCLUDING everyone at Williams, but cash is king

 

no one at Williams rates him even. Team is demotivated...doesn't matter what they do their driver(s) are just not skilled enough to make a difference.

 

Was around him in Daytona, he's a punk. An annoying one at that. Listening to him talk is like listening to that one cousin you hate, that thinks they're better than everyone, but you know they shat their bed till they were 14.

 

For those who hadn't noticed, there will be two replays of the race at "normal" hours on Sunday: 1 PM on ESPNEWS and 9 PM on ESPN2 (both times EDT).

 

FP3 looks to be a wet one.
