Great race engineers for vettel. His engineer on radio “tyre saving in sector 1 turn 8 & turn 13.” Vettel replying “ turn 8 & turn 13 are not in sector 1”..!!!
I fear that the Mercedes wheels with the heat radiators are going to be way better at this 5/5 abrasion circuit with respect to tire life.

That gap to Merc is ominous. Ferrari has really fallen off..back to RBR. Something changed after Spa. I think Joe G’s post from earlier this week was right on.

Toyoharu Tanabe - Honda F1 Technical Director: “The latest version of our PU, which we first used on Friday in Sochi, has produced encouraging data today. It’s a big improvement and validates the tuning work we carried out on this new PU since Russia." Jonathan Eddolls (Chief Race Engineer): “The other major focus was on the re-introduction of the latest PU spec from Honda. They worked very hard on the dyno by improving the mapping and calibrations since Russia and these changes have all worked as expected." "The drivability and performance of the latest PU have improved and we want to thank Honda for this. FP2 was a smooth and productive session for Brendon, the balance was better and he extracted a good lap from the car." Toro Rosso confirms that Pierre Gasly suffered with a FUEL SYSTEM issue. The issue would normally take TWO HOURS to repair, and the mechanics changed it in an hour

I'm not sure about the gap. There was talk about Ferrari turning down the engines on Friday so it will last longer. Also, after FP2 Seb commented they shouldn't have run the last lap so they could save the miles.
oh well...for what it's worth.... FYI Arrivabene confirmed that there is a 2nd sensor but assures that it has nothing to do with Ferrari‘s speed. He is more concerned that people found out about the 2nd sensor since it‘s something that only Ferrari/FIA knows and their battery system is their property.
I really think it is the Mercedes wheels that radiate heat out of the tires that has given them their recent advantage. The Ferrari team's virtual collapse has just added to their problems.

Is this true? FIA sensor causes Ferrari power drop - report https://www.wheels24.co.za/FormulaOne/fia-sensor-causes-ferrari-power-drop-report-20181003
What a simplistic beauty those earlier F1 cars had. At the time I did not appreciate the design as much as I do now. And the sound, I won't be going there as it is something I am certain we all agree upon it was GLORIOUS. I remember my first time at the F1 in Melbourne, the ground simply shook no matter where you were on the circuit as the engines were fired up and went out. The race start with the revs building and the clutch being dropped as the lights went out what an explosion of sound and pure horsepower.
MB has party mode or happy hour mode during qualifying and no one in FIA raises an eyebrow. As soon as Ferrari finds some extra performance all the sudden every other team starts to cry and in MB case, accuses them of cheating. Now the car as sensors imposed by the FIA. Why hasn't the extra performance ever been questioned on the MB during qualifying? It doesn't stop there either. Remember beginning of the season when Ferrari would start the engines and there was excessive smoke? Once again MB went crying to the FIA and accused Ferrari of cheating. MB are the biggest cry babies in F1.
It's all part of the game and always has been, if a team suddenly finds some extra speed Newey flexi wings Brawn with his double" diffuser ect ..it attracts attention and of course the other teams will cry foul to FIA.
