Yes Rosberg beat Schumacher 3 times! You have to count the entirety of Schumi's career, not pick and choose what you like. I'm not picking and choosing Hams best years.

Just kidding. On any given Sunday morning anything can happen.. In Schumacher's career, he did face some equal opponents. I do agree that Schumacher was a great champion but the records always fall eventually. Look how long Fangio's records stood until the Michael beat them.

Wow, that is desperate.... Schumacher was in his fourties and out of F1 for 3 seasons. Do you really think that LH would do better in 10 years against the youngsters after spending 3 years in singing and fashion?
You guys are never short of telling us how todays F1 is much more demanding than in the past (because of the G-Forces) and that todays drivers are athlets and then you compare Schumacher in his pension years with drivers 20 years younger? This has nothing to do with "pick and choose", this is common sense... Only the hardcore fans thought that he would come back and do the same he did before

Formula 1 race director Charlie Whiting has no doubts that Max Verstappen 'clearly' deserved a penalty for his first lap incident with Kimi Raikkonen in the Japanese Grand Prix. - https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/139238/whiting-verstappen-EUR%7EclearlyEURTM-deserved-penalty

Verstappen felt it was a 'bit stupid' that he recieved a five-second penalty for rejoining the track in an unsafe manner after he ran wide at the chicane and pushed Raikkonen wide, allowing Sebastian Vettel to pass.

But Whiting thinks there can be no doubt that the Red Bull driver deserved punishment for the way he came back on the circuit.

"It was quite clearly a penalty because Max went off the track and rejoined the track unsafely," explained Whiting.

"You are required to rejoin safely and Kimi was there and pushed him off the track. So I think that was a fairly straightforward one for the stewards."

Whiting believed that the later Verstappen incident with Vettel, when they clashed at Spoon Curve in the fight for position, could not be blamed on either driver - which is why no penalty was handed out.

"Seb tried to get up the inside, and it was a reasonable move," added Whiting.

"He got halfway alongside and Max turned in - a bit of a classic really.

"Stewards don't normally give penalties unless they are sure that one driver was wholly or predominantly to blame.

"Opinions will vary on whether there was equal blame, but certainly no driver was predominantly to blame they felt."

Whiting also brushed off suggestions from Verstappen that Vettel should have ben given a penalty for the incident - just as the Dutchman did in China when he spun Vettel's Ferrari around at the hairpin.

"In China he came charging down the inside into the hairpin, and almost T-boned Seb," he said.

"I don't think there was any similarity between those two.

"I haven't had a look at the one from China, but my recollection from that incident as it was a very clear case of causing a collision, and I think what Sebastian was doing was a genuine attempt to overtake.

"What Max was doing in China was opportunistic at best."

This is what people do not understand: records and stats do tell who is the most successfull but not necessarily who is the best.
Every era has his optimal driver: Fangio because he made it look easy when the cars were killing half of the drivers (just look "Race to Immortality"), Senna because he mastered what might be the most beasty cars in history (just look how the steering jogs on the inboard) and Schumacher because he combined talent with work ethos and meticulosity in times of unlimited testing... so now we are in a phase where the drivers input gets less and less and both Vettel and Hamilton simply took profite from the best car around. Look at Button, even he lucked into a WDC when the Brawn was superior...Even Rosberg won a WDC in the Mercedes and I doubt that he will ever considered as one of the greats....

Save it. Fernando is near 40 and wipes the floor with young Vandoorn. Kimi has driven better than Seb at times this year. Fangio won a championship at 46. Hamilton is driving better than i ever seen him drive. Schumacher got beat no need to try and sugar coat it

    Just an fyi folks.......

With 4 races to go Seb was 66 points down on Hamilton in 2015(token system still). This year he is 67 points behind. Seb finished 103 points behind LH that year. Last year he was 59 points down with 4 races to go.......and IMO Seb has the better car for 2018. :(

Honestly I think that a lot of drivers would change there approach to the race as well as the race and team tactics. instead of going all out at the start a more self preservation attitude will take over. Also the pit strategy will play out to where a 2 stop from the back of the pack using sticky tires to get up front then switching to long distance tires to work your way to the front once the pack spreads out. Also it can make qualifying interesting if there is a good chance for rain on race day. Do they sandbag to stay up front or do you roll the dice run fast and put on a driving clinic in the rain from the back and maximize your points.

I'm hating the ESPN replays. Lots of commercial breaks.

I missed the live broadcast. We lost power last night at the start of the race (the UPS gave me a half hour), and it didn't come back until the last lap.
    I suspect someone in town doesn't like F1. ;)
(And one of my computers lost the power supply. And I can't find an ATX supply short of mail-order.)

I haven't had a PSU pop since I switched to Seasonic. They use top quality components. I have a few that are 10 years old now.

To be fair, the computer is 12 years old or so.
And the UPS battery was also ancient.
(I swapped in a new UPS battery while the power was out. I ordered the new UPS battery after the last power outage -- a year ago. ;))

Why still talking about scenarios? The championship has been already over for quite some time, and 2019 will be more of the same. :(

100% correct; and Hamilton's great pace has also coincided with Lauda's absence from the Mercedes team due to "health issues"...……...
