“For me it’s clear Valtteri wasn’t looking in his mirrors and he was wondering around on the track and I think Stoffel is justified if he feels a bit hard done by there,” says Damon Hill.

Wonder if he would have been able to move out of the way on exit quick enough. It was a bad spot for the two cars to meet, regardless.

I'm pretty sure there's a rule somewhere that says its the duty of the car doing the overtaking to do so safely... Its not Bottas' job to get out of the way, was there a blue flag?

That's the relevant point. It is the responsibility of any driver on a slow lap to know what's coming up behind and make sure he's out of the way. If it is really the case that mirrors aren't good enough for that and the drivers need the teams to tell them then the FIA really need to sort it out and quickly.

Well Van doorne was certainly doing it safely...when he made his move, Bottas was driving in the middle of the track. There's also a rule that says give at least 1 cars width, which Bottas didn't do.

Bottas failed to watch the mirrors, Vandoorne (rightly) assumed Bottas would stay in the middle seeing as he backed off significantly to give Alonso generous space.

The mirrors have been a significant issue since at least 2006...
