Not at all a boring qualy lol. Let the rain mix it up. Kimi has no real luck given his pace but he should be able to push forward tomorrow.
That doesn't make much sense to me. What makes a car (apart from the tyres, which are standard) the best in the rain (but not overall)? Especially on single (or few) lap qualifying?
Superior mechanical and aero grip. Driver skill as well. Before his quick lap, Lewis was testing the limits at every corner.
So, Ocon qualifies an amazing third. That's awesome. However, I don't think he'll finish in the top five. Agree, or disagree??
By next year I should say next week. I read rumours Stroll might move to RP as soon as Monza..........................
I agree with the driver skill part, but Bas Jaski seemed to be arguing that the Merc is inherently better in the rain (specifically). Mechanical grip should matter just as much in the dry. Aerodynamic grip should matter more in the dry with higher cornering speeds. EDIT: apologies it was Bas Jaski's point I was disputing.
It's kind of revolting that a complete doorstop like Stroll has a drive secured but Perez or Ocon will be out.
Yes this sticks in my craw as well. Sad that even at the top level it's often more about money than pure talent.
Mercedes is better on cold and wet track, that's no secret. I don't have any problem admitting that Hamilton manages to get the best of these situations. But when it's far less probable that it rains than it doesn't, and in three races in a row the rain appears just at the right moment for Mercedes, you have to admit that there is a part of luck. Anyway, I hope that fortune will be fair with us sooner or later.
Yep, that's why you have Hamilton on pole, and why the Force India boys have been doing so well. Racing in the wet is about skill, commitment and ... big cojones !!!!
