I didn't see any of the FP1/2/3 /Qualy/Race. So rely totally on the comments here in the F1 section. I can't comment on Lewis and his battle with Max,sounds like Max won that one fair n square,by all accounts after a great drive. Vettel spun? Shocked i tell ya,didn't expect that one. So on we go to Mexico, looks like this will be the decider.Sombrero's on the podium, Tacos by the dozen washed down with endless Corona. Kimi ,just go for it again.Who cares about the rest of the field!
And what exactly does this have to do with Lewis running wide??? Just to remind you: Seb did leave room for at least one car as well (even more than Lewis did yesterday) and Seb did not make contact with the one on the inside either until this car was turned by a car following...Only because of the outcome one is an idiot and the other was not even mentioned
Nice link about the LH and Max duel near race end - http://www.espn.com/f1/story/_/id/25049244/lewis-hamilton-was-wary-fighting-max-verstappen-too-hard-us-grand-prix
Hahaha... did you notice how often the word "Mercedes" was used in this article when explaining why they did not win? When Lewis sees the chequered flag first you rarely see the car mentioned in these articles, only the driver
Its a UK site and article so I do expect a bias. I read all things F1 for information. Some sources are better than others of course
Thank you, thought it was Max because he seemed to be laughing and smiling at the same time Kimi said it.
@P.Singhof thought you might like this re: "limited illegality." It seems Ferrari persistence with the FIA regarding the MB rims has paid off for the moment. No wonder the W09 ate it's tires during the USGP. Motorsport.com have understood that Mercedes had to close hub and rim holes with silicone. A move that the FIA has demanded, but without making any public communication. And the result of that "small" change we have seen: the Mercedes went into a crisis with the management of the temperature of the rear tyres, so that Bottas was overtaken by Sebastian Vettel on his comeback to the front. https://it.motorsport.com/f1/news/caso-mercedes-hamilton-in-crisi-perche-sono-stati-chiusi-i-fori-nel-mozzo/3200232/
That is very interesting. I did not know there was anything questionable about the wheels, I just thought they increased the surface area for heat to radiate off of.
Clearly I'm delighted with Kimi's win. I also think COTA really came of age this year as an event. Its a great track, a great overtaking track with what looks like plenty of good views including for GA ticket holders sat on the grass banks. The TV camara work showed the sheer sped of modern F1 cars and the on board shots during the various battles were superb. I liked the Cowboy's cheer leaders of course and I really liked the way the navy man sang the anthem, so often over-sung by some showbiz "personality". Retired Navy Petty Officer, 1st Class, Generald Wilson nailed it , well done Sir !
Well our versions of fault maybe different, because I don't think Lewis is at fault for having a go at making a pass, he tried and thought better of it, so I feel no point in pushing the issue, and I'am sure you'd be one of the first with criticism if he hadn't even attempted a pass... Not playing safe in my book is attempting to pass Max in spoon
A couple of GP's ago (I forgot when but I posted the new rims) MB introduced new rear wheel rims with vents and ribs for heat dissapation WHICH "cured" their issue of eating up tires. There's a youtube vid of this with Pete Windsor and Scarbs. Ferrari complained, which is well within their right, and persisted and the FIA wrote a letter saying it was legal but with "limited illegality" (WTF???). So Ferrari still persisted and hence what we have is MB and the FIA doing "what is right" regarding this issue and the FIA's "limited illegality" clause.
Someone mentioned holes but I didn't think that was correct, because how then do the tires stay inflated? I would need to see a diagram to wrap my head around that.
As always you try to turn it around...this was all no issue until you guys showed up wanting to make us believe how smart that race was... As I said above there is absolutely no issue with him trying but then one should be open enough to admit that is did not work out and that he drove wide because he overshot it and not because he thought that from the outside of the track he might have a better view on "the bigger picture"
And as always you like to try and discredit Hamilton, whereas with Vettel he makes that a tad easier... when racing is concerned..
What are you reading, I just said he must of thought better of it after having an attempted pass move, so why are you going on about it, you think Hamilton made a mistake, and I don't, well it's best left at that..and I think it's best I dismiss your attempts to prove otherwise
here's a rendering of the "holes" you mentioned (inside of the rim). The holes I believe are on the base of the spokes above the hub.
COTA race summary:- Kimi overtook Hamilton Sebastian overtook Bottas Lewis failed to overtake Kimi Lewis failed to overtake Max
