We should stop being hopefull before each race and enbrace the reality of a lost championship, once again. Lower our expectations, avoid this constant disappintment and try enjoying a F1 race.
Well Vet did an ok job today, but where did Ham and Ver get their laps from? Ham beat Bot by .7s and Ver beat Ric by a monster 1.2s! Amazing performances from those boys and well deserved results. Race tomorrow will be long and unpredictable. It’s not over yet. Anything could happen, but if Ham beats Vet again, then it looks like the championship is his...
I'm not a Hamilton fan but that lap was incredible. Possibly the best single lap of his career. Unbelievable.
He won't. The race and championship are already over, but I will continue watching merely for love of the sport. I may NOT, however, continue to watch Elton preen on the podium any more this season, or his "adoring fans" as the Brits say so lovingly.
Lets not overlook Max he was 0.32 sec off Hamilton with a car much down on power compared to the works Merc engine and also the more powerful Ferrari engine. Max in either the Ferrari or Merc would have had pole. Seb staying in the cockpit for long and his interview comments straight after I see as him seeing the WDC slipping through his fingers.
plus almost 2 full sec. between Ham and Perez. 5 sec. between Ham and Strroll. No news but F1 is divided into two formula's these days.
You like being smug with comments like that don't you? As a Ferrari fan and owner your comments and those of your supporters do not bother me and the rest of my fellow tifosi.
Not a fan of Hamilton, but he has my respect. Not just for this 1 lap in Singapore, but the fact he has driven to perfection all season while our #1 driver continues to falter at scale and when it matters.
Fair comment. Seb can only blame hinself but now it’s like he can do nothing right. Red Bull was expecting pole and Max delivered a lap that should have grabbed it (chassis has always been favorable for RBR at this circuit). Hamilton pulled that pole lap out of nowhere...probably as much to stick it in Horner’s face after his very public criticisms
https://www.racefans.net/2018/09/15/tell-you-have-more-than-half-second-how-ferrari-blocked-vettel-q2-tyre-gamble/ Vettel wanted to do another lap on ultras but wasn't allowed. IMO that would've been a race winning strategy starting 1st or 3rd.
Hamilton's amazing lap had more to do with the man behind the wheel than the engineers... same goes for Vettel. I love my Ferrari's and I hope Ferrari see the light after this season buyout Hamilton's contract for next season.
IMO, being 50 hp down on such a long lap, and no real party mode to speak of, Max's lap was supreme to all.
[Autosport] Verstappen's engine cut out on lap that could've given him pole, and engine was already detuned after FP3 problems that left him "shaking with anger":
I am not convinced its ever been his. He has too many pressure situation mistakes. 4 titles does not indicate a good pressure driver at all right now. LH is clearly doing things right to win. I am at a loss for today for Vettel and Ferrari.
