yeah if Lewis came through "like a bull" yesterday, Checho came through like a rampaging elephant today lol I don't usually root for crashes but if he'd taken out Max the drama would have been very very sweet While watching it live I noted Lando's lead went from 11 sec to over 30 seconds after the SC came out in front of Max. Surprised they didn't engage a course-wide VSC immediately after the crash. So definitely a huge gift from the racing gods! He'd have had some some serious work to do if he had to pit and come back out pretty far from the lead (surely further back than just 3rd?)
So much negativity around this race! However, spectating on TV has been pretty good. Maybe this season will be exciting and/or competitive. I think Lando just got lucky with pitstop strategy, but did an amazing job extending his lead over Max after the safety car! Ferrari got screwed by the safety car for points! Charles was a definite #2 to Max. I don't think he would have ever passed, but to only be 2sec behind as not bad.
So is there any avenue for correction/appeal on the safety car mistake and the time difference? Or does everyone just mark it up to incompetence and karma for 2021 and move on?
I don't think the FIA is going to do anything retroactive. They will leave it alone and won't admit it was their mistake imo. It's possible a team like RedBull or Ferrari can appeal it.
If so, he drops one place (to Perez), but still barely covers Hamilton. McLaren and Ferrari both pick up 25 points in the main race.
Maybe he has a medical condition? Maybe he has genes that predispose him to weight gain? Maybe none of this really matters because Lando Norris won the GP and Brown seems like an affable bloke?
Soooo happy for Lando! I'm also very happy his first win didn't come in a silly sprint race but a proper race.

Vasseur's pot belly crossed my mind as well. Middle and old age as well as certain medications will do that to you.
If he ran Piastri wide it would have been OK. But the rear twitched a bit so "he wasn't in control" FIA are bored and trying to bore everyone else.
