I believe so. Even in the movie "Rush," Lauda says it.

That’s what I’ve been saying since they signed him. Epic mistake and huge setback for the team as we are now witnessing. I just wonder now if they’ll be dumb enough to keep this **** show going thru 2026?

Thank God for Piastri and Antonelli. They are the future and keep things watchable. Toto proved he is smarter than Elkhan. If only Ferrari had invested in their future instead of a geriatric, crying hat salesman.

Old age and treachery overcomes youth and inexperience!

I'll believe you if OP & KA are still there when their current teams implode and they will. All very well parading around in a superior car atm.

I think what DF1 is saying is, it doesn't matter if they hired Jesus to drive. The car is subpar. The drivers are not the mistake, its the development.

You think if Ferrari would have kept Sainz, they would have more wins than Mclaren?

Please try to stay on topic and stick to the money/resources wasted on his contract.

I'll take that as a no. According to many here he has already made them boatloads of money. So I don't see how you are calculating losses.

Gee at Mercedes it wasn't that the car was dominant, it was Lewis's genius that delivered the wins. Now?

You brought up money. I didn't. T shirts, hats, sponsership, all bring in money. Again, I don't see how you calculate losses.

His contract is estimated to be six times the amount Carlos Sainz was paid, and he is delivering inferior results. Nothing about the money spent shows superior results. The gains from whatever crap they're selling with his name on it is not boosting the Formula 1 team and from a performance perspective, it's a money pit, poor investment, and blunder. Ball's in your court, fanboy.

Ok so you switched to talking about gains on track, not revenue, got it. That leads to my previous question, what would you think Sainz would be doing? How many races you think he would have won? Certainly no track gain with this car. At least Ferrari is gaining revenue with Sir Lewis Hamilton vs same performance and no revenue with Sainz.

looks like hard to copy or even know the trick..could be combination many factor which is hard to replicate

this race show the mclaren made their car so the tire are kept in the window temp so its not dying too quickly..this is their biggest advantage

This is a Formula 1 forum where the majority of members, aside from a sick few, care about performance and results, not popularity, not arbitrary titles granted by figureheads of foreign nations, and not trolling. Sainz gave Leclerc a decent enough run for his money over three years, something that your idol is failing to do tremendously while making substantially more. The time gap between the two is staggering and his performance doesn’t warrant his salary.

    Precisely!!!!

For years we had to endure the chest thumping of “it’s the driver, not the car”. Now that he can’t get out of his own way it’s suddenly “the car is bad, not the driver”.

Yes the car is bad but if he was still any good at all he’d at least be beating Charles. Instead we get all types of excuses for his lack of performance.

Ferrari MUST get rid of Lewis in addition to fixing the car or we will be saying “next year” into 2030.

RedBull took to thermal imaging guns on the Mclarens and even they are dumbfounded. RedBull even speculated of Mclaren using "tire water" but in reality, no one knows what Mclaren is doing to the tires to get them in the operating window.

    It's working for Mclaren though.

I think what is often overlooked in analysis of someone almost catching someone at the end is that the driver in front is only trying to get to the line first, not trying to keep the gap the same as it was 5-10 laps prior.

I care about the results as well, you brought up money, so that's why I addressed it. You are missing the point. It doesn't matter who they hired. The car is subpar. If you care about results as much as you say you do, you would be criticizing the technical department more than the hiring department. To me that makes more sense. The truth is Sainz would have no wins now imo. A least Sir Lewis Hamilton found his way to the top step in the sprint.

    a) I'm not missing anything and you just proved my point. You said yourself it doesn't matter, so why spend a ton more money on something that doesn't matter for an inferior result compared to his former teammate?

    b) I've mocked this entire team since the beginning of the season. They're a joke, just like Hamilton's time gap to his teammate.

    c) No one said anything about wins. This time last year, Sainz was ahead of Leclerc. Hamilton needs safety cars just to get close, regardless of how he and Ferrari somehow stumbled ass-backwards into a sprint win.
