The rain really spiced this one up. I wasn’t looking forward to Lewis’ chances this morning when I turned the race on, but he jumped through the field with incredible ease. He lucked out with his yellow tires running out of life before the rain hit, otherwise I believe the team would’ve put him on inters like redbull did with Max. Speaking of redbull, what awful luck for Ricardo. Max drove today, but really wasn’t in it. Hated seeing Kimi having to give up position to Seb, but I completely understood why and the team should’ve done it sooner. Seb, jeez I can’t stand this guy. Haven’t liked him since his torro Rosso days, but you have to feel for him. Small mistake and he was in the kitty litter. You could see the frustration when he beat on his steering wheel as he’s driving into the tire barrier. Good on Bottas for not fighting team orders. I hope he gets his chance. Seems like a standup guy.
I don’t know why people are surprised by raw emotion from these guys. Everyone expresses themselves differently... even world class athletes so when Seb kicks gravel and swears or bumps someone ... I’m fine and relieved to see that emotion. When Lewis is kneeling next his car distraught .. or talked **** while on the moment... fine. It just shows that they’re emotionally invested unlike most overpaid athletes these days.
If Ferrari lose the championship this year it will be down to Vettel crashing out while in first place in Germany. Biggest **** up of his career.
I understand, but let's not kiss Elton's butt for the win. He made a great drive and his engineer called a perfect race. Without team orders we get Verstappen Kvyat, and others.
Agree with point #1. Even Schu and Hakkinen hit the WOC in Canada. I keep hearing Merc gave LH the win. I recall seeing Bot/Ham dice toe-to-toe for a few corners, Bot got into the slippery area and Ham jumped to a 1.3s lead. Allen then told him to hold station (presumably because he could see it all end in carbon fibre tears) while Ham posted a series of fast laps on warmer tires. They prevented Bottas from dueling, but they didn’t “give” LH the race, imo.
Unfortunate end to what could have been. Could happen to Merc next time, just like it did last time. Its not over yet. As they say... That's racing. Been there, done that... its never fun for anyone, but it does make it sweeter when it goes your way next time.
The difference is that I guess Seb is more genuine than Lewis...Lewis might have spent to many time with his buddy Neymar His love and hate speech and mentioning Mandela: I guess he forgot that he himself fueled his own charged fans with the conspiracy that the Ferrari drive into the Mercedes on purpose only two weeks ago. Where was the "love" to spread in this? I think Lewis is simply fake and can switch it on and off just like he wants to.
...would wait for the press release from the team explaining why it was not his fault As seen the day before....
Well, th8is sucked very bad, but one thing is sure, we have the fastest car, if things go normal next time Seb should destroy Elton....we know the guy is so, so lucky, but we can still take him...
aMuS reporting that just prior to Vettel driving where he slid off, a Williams leaked oil. That's not Vettel's excuse that's one of their photographers (?) apparently.
On the no penalty...a mate made an interesting point: Mercedes head honcho's in attendance of the race, future of German GP in doubt due to funding, Merc headquarters round the corner...Coincidence?
That crossed my mind also yesterday . I mean what was the attendance for this race ? 165000 or there abouts ,about 1/2 that of Silverstone.i reckon he should of at least deserved 5 secs to put him behind Bottas. No F1 race in Germany 2019 right?
They're likely not having it due to lack of funding. Unless Merc suddenly made their mind up yesterday and fund the race...
Toto telling us again the fairy tale of not having a No.1..... https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/mercedes-team-orders-germany-bottas-hamilton-1063028/ It is getting ridiculous, is that why Bottas was standing 15 sec during the pit stop?
I’m don’t disagree but aren’t they all sort of drama queens? I mean it’s just maybe Lewis is a bit more theatric than the rest. I’m just telling you... F1 and the whole of the FIA do not want Seb to win. He’s not the “right” publicity magnet. As Bas said, Merc in Germany... they get favorable treatment in most situations, they’re certainly not going to get touched here.
I very much share the same feelings. Vettel penalized for blocking Sainz, who himself said Vettel doesn't deserve a penalty seeing as Sainz got through and it was a radio miscommunication with Ferrari....Lewis gets away scott free once again, for doing something others have always received the standard 5 second penalty, due to miscommunication with the team! Can't make this **** up. I'm on the brink of giving this ''sport'' up.
Vettel is costing the Scuderia the title this year. Second major points costing mistake. Even Nico said this should not have happened.
And on the other hands his tire safing in Australia scored a victory...but this is forgotten, you guys only see the points lost due to him but not the ones won....
Right. As I've said several times in this thread and others, there is so much ebb and flow in the course of a 21 race season that it's impossible to point out one particular turning point. 10 races to go, starting with Hungary next weekend. Let's go for it!!
Max is correct. Sebastian was the first to enter that corner in the increasing tricky conditions. After his off, everyone else slowed down. Any other driver may as well have skidded off. Just like on public roads, the first rains lifts all the muck - oil, grease, hydraulic oil etc. to the surface causing a slippery surface.
