Vettel holding on to the lead until the season is over.

While it was a great race, it only helps Vettel if his chasers alternate in taking the victory. Not complaining, just saying that he can sit back comfortably and watch them duke it out knowing full well that they're just neutralizing each other.

Nice karma that Jenson won here where IIRC he got his first ever victory.

di Resta really leaves a good impression. Constantly working his way up.

Nice race for Jensen. Smooth won this.
Both Ferrari's were sloppy, off the track and late on tire calls.
LH was gracious, should have been his victory but JB and his ease of tire wear were key.
Much better race than the normal Budapest round!

Jordan just confirmed it and suggests maybe he is the best rookie? Him or Perez..

I noticed this as well. He is not perfect in the wet. No one is. Overall not a great race by Ferrari. Late tire calls and Massa had more delays in the pits. Team lacks a bit of polish.

I like it when Ferrari say they will be more aggressive. Well, where was it. The aggression today was with Mclaren again.

+1 podiums all the way with victories or not and its his. Now its just a matter of who is the 2nd best team. For now its Mclaren. Ferrari need to step it up with a good show in Spa.

Well done to JB, perhaps the most under-rated of modern era champions.

15 points covering 2nd thru 5th - maybe Vettel is uncatchable, but it looks like a great scrap for second!

    +1 :(

If the race was starting, ok. I guess the taxicabs pay the bills at Speed.

    Cheers,
    Ian
PS - Pretty darn good race though.....

It's even worse - The stupid race isn't even on Speed! [It's on ESPN].

So, they cut away for some BS pre-race show only!..... :(

    Investigating VPN's now.

    Cheers,

    One last question:

Did Jensen's pop goose Michibada? There was that shot of him grabbing and planting one on her and she looked kind of uncomfortable.

    If so, good on him!

Driver's championship is over. I think McLaren have a pretty decent shot at the Constructor's if they keep up the development and finish races, only 53pts gap with two drivers to go at it.

While I agree with you factually, here are the actual stats:

These guys still have a mathematical shot at beating Vettel:
    Webber
    Hamilton
    Alonso
    Button
    Massa
    Rosberg
    Heidfeld

Heidi is interesting: If he'd win all remaining races and Vettel wouldn't score (e.g. due to injury), Heidi would get the title because of the number of wins. Delusional, I know. But mathematically possible. :)

Fact is, that now with each passing race this list is getting shorter and shorter. Or to put it differently: Vettel could have 3 DNFs in a row and still be in the lead, so in all likelihood he'll be crowned champion in one of the Asian races (Singapore, Japan or Korea).

Speakin of whom, his career as a race driver is pretty much done as Grosjean looks like he'll step in sometime this season.

I agree that he won't be back in the Renault racing cockpit in 2012, but I wouldn't count him out at some other team or as a test driver.

I agree only the highlighted bit is the downer, if your RB Vettel fan not so much.

Hamilton or Alonso could have been realistic threat.. pity about today.

Massa and Webber I would rule out because of team orders, unless something untoward happens.

We got spoiled in recent years with Hitchcock WDC finales. F1's history has the title decided more often than not before the last race.

I'm a Vettel fan, but would also prefer the situation wasn't so obvious. Such is racing. I'm more concerned that RB might repeat their dominance next year, that wouldn't be so good for the sport.

I'd love to see Alonso get his third title next year and if that's not in the cards, then Hami his 2nd. Vettel his 3rd would be a bit of a bore. Webber's first would be fun though. :)

    ;) For those struggling, I'll (attempt!) to translate these latest Ism's;

Scotalian; Paul Di Resta (Get it?....)
    Boomer; Buemi (Almost too easy)

    :)

+1 On quite a few occasions, *long* before the last race. "Always been that way & always will." The past few years have been the aberration - Or a conspiracy to some. ;)

Such is indeed racing..... However, I respectfully disagree - I've said before, I enjoy watching a team dominate for a few years - Your engineering, team management, technology etc is simply proving superior to everyones else's - Good luck to ya! Kudos where it's due.

As noted, we've now got a hell of a battle shaping up for second. OK, I know, who cares, but it's something to watch along with the mid field & even tail end battles.

    Cheers,
    Ian
