Name a win Max tossed. Literally just tossed out. I cannot think of 1 overall. No he is not perfect but drives perfectly to win. Charles has a hole in his skillset that needs a touch of refinement. Its not world ending but timing is critical for major errors. Charles has had some bad timing. I still dont see him as a natural team leader either.
In fact we are all talking about drivers ( including myself) in very confortable position in front of a tv screen but who knows about the real involvement required by different cars. Perhaps RB18 is a relatively easy car to drive in a race and the SF-75 post Spain Gp a very tricky one ?
Yes we have........when testing starts possibly we can get excited again. The RedBull refinement, penalty or not will be difficult to really over come.
Neither Ferrari or Red Bull are difficult cars to drive, neither seem nervous on the limit. No car this year seems to have that...IMO to do with the pirelli's structure that have a lot of understeer build in.
It's early days but I'm going to encourage everyone here not to get too excited again about winning the winters' championship (again).
Given the way the season started this feels disappointing. Charles’ weak smile and body language said it all. He was certainly driver of the day and Ferrari strategy correct for once. That said I have really enjoyed reading all of the community comments on this forum. You all make the season fun! I laugh more in fchat forums than a year of late night comics! Thank you all and Forza Ferrari!
Couldn’t agree more. Ferrari is a listed company now, so “printing money” is the only thing where they care about. (IIRC the company was debt-ridden under Enzo’s reign, and only started to reduce this debt burden after launching the F40…) They couldn’t care less if F1 goes well or not (as long as an acceptable level of performance is achieved, of course), money keeps coming in whatever happens in F1. On another note: Jacky Ickx co-commented the race on Belgian RTBF (Tipik these days) this afternoon. Jacky says he’s close to John Elkann and, apparently, JE Himself confirmed (to Jacky) that Binotto’s position is under no threat whatsoever.
The steering movements are the indicator. Max is relaxed as is Sergio most of the season. Not fighting the chassis/suspension so much. RedBull suffered less aerodynamic distortion compared to Mercedes or Ferrari(bouncing etc) via the new aero configurations. The Ferrari might have taken a different effort and focus, certainly for Sainz he admits this but was easier for Charles. Then the Power Unit was restricted as we keep seeing in the press. Less balance, less chassis harmony and less power. The opposite for RedBull. + Max in the seat and we have a dominating result for 2022. A wow situation I think. Really impressive in the objective view for RedBull.
Well there is interaction at the driver level but Management certainly will provide guidance. Toto and others are not the worst teachers in the school.
That is impressive confirmation. Should quickly quiet or disturb some folks in the F1 pundit world and some Ferrari fans.
4 wins from where Ferrari started is an incredible disappointment. With TD39 they wouldn't have won the title but it would've been a close fight at least.
Yeah, but you can't teach personality 1,2,3. That happens over time. Incidentally they're just playing all of CL's screams. Heh, the only one who can get away with that annoying frequency is Kimi.
The pit wall tried to bring Charles in, but he stayed out and made it work. I think they finally realized that the drivers have to make the call, because the pit gets it wrong. 3.0 sec stop first time, I don't blame him for not wanting to give the crew another chance to screw up. Carlos did okay, but he wasn't exactly storming out of the pit with his new tires. Although I can imagine losing motivation at the end of a season of being the unluckiest driver since McLaren had their "frequent fire" club. Charles gave 110% today.
Like he said in the interview, far from it, and he thought the 2nd half was better - thought Brazil was his best.
I don't think Max had any intention to help Perez. In Brazil, he was just speaking with a forked tongue for PR effect to diffuse the tension.
