Not only is it the first time two brothers drive for the same team in a session but, IIRC, it might be the first time three Japanese share a session.
The WCC battle literally over with Lec's grid penalty. Took away almost any interest into this race, sigh
F1 Abu Dhabi GP: Leclerc tops FP1 but picks up grid penalty Charles Leclerc fastest in FP1 ahead of Lando Norris but was given a 10-place grid penalty for a battery change
Very unfortunate that penalty, kills the title hopes... My previous post about three Japanese drivers at the same time was obviously wrong, I had not realised that Iwasa was replacing Yuki.
Components are old now, Norris could also be impacted by some reliability issues during the race either ...
It was much simpler in the V8 era. Now there are so many components that can be swapped out that carry penatlies but also impact performance, it's impossible to keep track of. We don't know why a driver might be aa little bit of pace even. He could've swapped certain parts for the last race but now using old bits again that are in rotation. It's stupid. In the V8 era it was simple. 1 engine lasts 2 races. Not this bit is swappable, or X bit is not swapped out yet, or party Y is now in rotation.
F1...the pinnacle of regulations, the pinnacle of pop culture, the pinnacle of hype, the pinnacle of hypocracy, the pinnacle of absurdity, the pinnacle of financial malfeasance...but no longer the pinnacle of motor sports.
Well in the end, Charles penalty isn’t that much important because we absolutely need a Mclaren DNF for this race.. Everything could happen during a race reliability wise.
Correct. I think only for 2nd in WDC is it actually important. The WCC is highly unlikely unless Mclaren suffers a dnf, ****, maybe a double DNF...
