Sky broadcasters were commenting on Red Bull and Ferrari looking stronger on long runs in FP2 than Mercedes.
Specifically with the super-softs. They were up .4 on Bottas’ laps and 1 sec on Ham. After watching the session, I don’t see anyone going for a Med/super-soft strategy. Those tires understeered in some sectors and oversteered in others. I know it was windy, but everyone had a moment or two on those tires (maybe RBR was okay on them). Fastest time was on softs and Ham was doing 1:21’s on softs after 23 laps while the Bulls were in the 1:22’s on super softs after 7 laps. The track was resurfaced and is smoother, but again that would seem to favor the supers.
Unsurprising but all new engine units for Raikkonen as a "precaution". That really hurts and it is hard to imagine he will get through the year without a penalty (may also effect him getting engine upgrades?) https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/raikkonen-engine-change-spanish-gp-1036193/
It all balances out in the end. Australia was bad luck, Baku was good luck. Baku 2017 was terrible luck. Not certain what good is happening in Barcelona for him...they all seem to be sliding all over the place.
Rain is expected tomorrow....whether the track will be wet, damp-->going on dry is the question for quali.
Either way verstappen will be slip - sliding into somebody (at least come Sunday). Hopefully for once for ****ssake it's a mercedes
