Most have noted that the SS was the worse tyre vs the Softs execpt Merc obviously. I definitely think that the Mercedes bought updates could of bought down the gap, but bringing another tire into the equation is what is making very murky. And curious of why they said only 3 circuits including this one this year will feature only this compound that philelli provided.

Everything seems to go back to the “Auto Motor und Sport” article...a dramatic photo, very light on real details, and a lot of anonymous sourcing.

According to other claims, there WERE multiple teams suffering from blistering when doing race simulations...it just makes sense that they would want to figure out tire longevity by running them to the threads (resulting in dramatic photo opportunities).

I just read an article that suggested that every team tries to influence Pirelli during pre-season testing. I’m sorry, but facts are definitely missing from this conspiracy.

Go to the Barcelona testing 2018 thread. I posted a couple of pics of Mercedes tyres blistering....one guy(Mercedes) moving a tyre cart of various soft compounds---> all show signs of blistering and/or "banding" where part of the tyre is worn than the rest of the contact patch.

So is it only a coincident that exactly with this change of the tyres the Mercedes is back in the front?
They say if it looks like a cow, sounds like a cow and behaves like one chances are good that it actually is one... but I guess until Toto Wolff and Pirelli give out a press release "We did that on purpose to strengthen Mercedes and weaken the orhers" it remains a pointless conspiracy to some over here...even if some of them "prove their facts" with simple links to articles on websites suiting their opinion all the other times...
And even if this would be a coincident it still leaves a bad taste in the mouth....

Pirelli see this as a safety issue for all teams, no catering to Mercedes. First was Party mode excuse now the tire excuse, who's working on a 3rd one?

Ferrari squandered serious points ... they needed those points to have a cushion against the inevitable.

Party mode was definately an issue, and they had the heads up and it wasn’t used in qualy afte aus, and suspiciously they didn’t get pole in the races they missed. The tyres are suddenly working for Mercedes, yet for the first races they haven’t done, and now they hit pole? Yeah, all normal...... for cheating teams that is.

Hope the Mercedes take each other out tomorrow, and Maxine drives straight through the pair of em for good measure (assuming he doesn’t mind not hitting a ferrari this weekend, seeing as how he can’t drive for us anytime soon).

The problem with this is that Ferrari is well known to be great on the softest tire. Mercedes has been well noted haven't changed their stance on being the car not performing well on some of the softest of tires since 2016. Even the pervious races of 2018 showed that the car didn't perform well on those softer tires. It's why I think many are confused that the Mercedes was able to work on those softest tires. While Ferrari well known to work well on those soft tires struggle badly on using those softest tires instead used the second softest that worked for them.

Anything can happen tomorrow, that's why they race.

Would rather see some red cars in the front row, my guess is that someone in the top 6 will end their race on lap 1.

Looking for a double points day from Haas.

What a world class bullshitter and cheat. We’ve all seen the press release Toto, you need to practice a different answer, cos they’ve already told the world it was t Mercedes request, and by your ******** now, it proves you needed the tyres changing the most

So, for those that doubted (and believed serial liar Toto) James Allison interviewed by Sky about upgrades, first thing out his mouth ‘well, we are hoping that the tyres...........’ there ya go race fans..... the fix is in.... if tyres weren’t an issue as some think, why is it the FIRST thing James ‘traitor, hang him’ Allison talks about is the effect of the new tyre compounds on their car.
