Airmail is not 'green' enough lol. Possibly email might be more eco friendly. He can frame a photo. Carbon neutral and all
A good race for Mercedes, not so for Ferrari and Red Bull. RB has to acknowledge at some point soon that Max still has too much petulant child in his genes. I am now thinking that he could end up never winning a WDC because of exactly that reason. His attitude cost him the pole and the race...or at least a podium. Albon is showing to be a better horse to put their money on. Ferrari had a race that was theirs to win. And they didn't. Bringing in Charles early for tires seemed ridiculous. The decision gave up the lead. And Charles second pit stop gave up the precious seconds that could have even led to a challenge for the victory. But then Charles blew his chance at the podium while closing on Bottas in the final laps. Seb seemed to settle for second way too soon. It shows he no longer drives like a man who wants to win...if he can finish where he started he is happy. He is now as useless as Kimi was. It appears that the Ferrari is just trying to get through the rest of the races without looking bad. If that is the way they want to end this season, I doubt they'll have what it takes for next season. I give Hamilton credit for what he did on those very old tires. He's still the best driver on the grid. I mentioned a few posts ago about dropping the last four cars on the grid. Maybe I was wrong. Maybe F1 should drop the four fastest cars. Then it might look like real racing. Such is the state of modern F1. However, Ricardo's long long long run on his first set of tires seems like a typical back marker strategy. Is that supposed to make up for the rest of the car's faults? Haas needs to leave the series or make three big changes for 2020. Dump both drivers and dump Gunther. Whatever good luck and energy they entered F1 with, it is long gone. They are starting to make Williams almost look respectable. Does Williams have stock video of footage of Clair looking concerned and Kubica looking at tv monitors? That is all the team seems to be doing. Oh well...only a few more to go.
We keep saying one day...Max and a title. Not if he continues un-needed contact lol. This is a weakness in his profile. https://www.planetf1.com/news/hamilton-very-likely-verstappen-will-hit-you/
JV utterly correct. Marko, Horner and Max are just absurd so called 'competitors' happy to see Albon doing better and Max and the leadership lying as idiots they all are! https://www.planetf1.com/news/jv-hits-out-bad-role-model-verstappen/
So Charles should talk more lol I think driver faster is better lol https://www.planetf1.com/news/leclerc-now-wants-to-talk-more-on-the-radio/
A sum of the day from Vettel - Vettel: 'Lucky' Mercedes had more speed Sebastian Vettel felt Mercedes "got lucky" with their strategy but conceded they were faster after Lewis Hamilton claimed victory at the Mexican GP.
Albon you are not the team chosen favorite. Get used to less than optimal treatment with Max and Horner/Marko working fully against you! https://www.planetf1.com/news/albon-fears-two-stop-strategy-cost-him-podium/
What a difference a race makes. Before Seb won in Japan, he was downtrodden, and would have said, "We just didn't have the speed, and we made some mistakes." Now, Merc is lucky. lol
Modern F1 is, as 'always has been and should be, the very best winning races and championships. It IS real racing. Your suggestion would make it appear as a scripted show, as it would actually be. THAT is not real racing.....
After Albon pitted he came out stuck behind Sainz ,losing about 6 secs .so why did Ferrari still pit Leclerc at that time,he was in front and is pulling further ahead! Then later they screwed up for 6.2 secs on his second stop. You cannot make this stuff up. it really is amateur hour. Max was just Max. I like the way Albon is making headway ,he deserves to keep the seat. Lewis deserved to win doing 47 laps on the hards. So Lewis will be all over it in Austin.
Unfortunately, this extends well beyond F1 & has so for decades. Audi & Porsche dominating different Le Mans eras, Maserati & Ferrari had an era in the old FIA series. I'm sure there's other motorsport series where only a few just dominate with the biggest bank accounts.
Today's race was actually pretty good...and would have been great if all the stupid rules wouldn't get in the way. Do away with the mandatory tire change and let the teams make up their own strategy for what they use and how and when they want to use them. Ferrari could have won...but they don't have Toto...they don't have a real strong leader.
Actually he was 4th fastest in quali (before 'Bitter Max' got penalized 3 placed back on the grid) . With a team like Merc now, Hamilton would have won the race even walking barefoot - thus saving the green planet at the same time ;-). Anyway, Ferrari sucks this season, Mercedes is an all around complete team (car development, strategy, drivers). I'm hoping that Ferrari are learning their lessons to be much better in 2020.
Many comments here seem to take for granted that a start from the front row means a guaranted win unless mistakes are made during the race, then they look for Ferrari's (obvious) mistakes to explain the fail. However what I believe is that being fast for just one lap is not the same as being fast for a whole race (where tyre management has different implications), and the mistakes are largely the results of a team struggling with what they know is a slower car rather than the causes for not winning.
Well, there are teams and constructors that enter a series with the sole intention to win, and there are others who are just happy to participate. Mercedes hasn't been in F1 for as long as Ferrari, but when they came in, they meant business. Same for Porsche and Audi at Le Mans.
It’s a proof!! You don’t need the fastest car on the track to win. You need the best strategy to win the race. Unfortunately, Ferrari proved once again their lack on strategy. All they have to do is to learn from Mercedes. It’s not a secret. The Mercedes strategy unfolds in front of their eyes. Just follow it!!!!
Another lacklustre performance by Hamilton. Despite having the best car on the grid all he could manage was to come in first. What a shame. Somebody with real talent and ambition could have done so much more with this car. I'm so disappointed.
Well, everybody races to win. The difference is that some keep trying when they're not winning while others get out when things get ugly. It's easier to have nice stats and keep the shareholders happy when you just skip the bad times. That's what happens when manufacturers race just for the exposure. They've done a lot of harm to the sport, but hey, they're paying the bills so we have to live with it.
Nothing but praise for Hamilton from the Italian press... https://www.planetf1.com/news/high-praise-for-hamilton-in-italian-press/
