Leclerc is WDC material, that's for sure, but he got spanked by Verstappen at the world karting championship.

its not the first time we see this kind of mistake of ferrari in quali right? they havent been the role model for brilliant strategies in the past few years. but why? so much money spend and specialists have been hired and tried to get the horse running. maybe a bit to many specialist and no generalists? I clearly miss someone with racing experience and background at ferraris pitwall. look at Mercedes: Toto Wolff was a brilliant race driver, hold a Nordschleife Record for many years, he even competed in FIA GT1 with Ferrari. He knows Business AND racing and he has this special instinct of how do read a race situation. and he was joined by Lauda at the strategy table.
Red Bull, with Christian Horner, ex F3000 Racer AND team owner (Arden), Helmut Marko as 24h LM Winner. Jean Todt was never a racer but he was one of the best rallye co-pilots and he knew alot about strategy, successfully also as Peugeot Team Principal and he was a decision maker! yes some have been hard but the success proved him right. he got drivers and staff under control and this is what you need if you run a racing team.
for sure they all have also a bunch of engineers and strategy specialists to support but someone needs to have the position to take the final call and has the big picture and I dont see that right person at ferrari.

Leclerc asked twice today if they are really sure as he felt that it could go wrong. when I saw that LeC was dropping down the field I couldn't believe what I saw! what I miss at the pitwall of ferrari is someone with that special racing experience and background, someone who knows what can happen and not trust on datas, because thats by far to late then.

we had 2 sales managers and now the former technical director who is running the team. if you manage a race team you should now the entire business.

Not often if ever we see Newey speak like this. He's saying what some of us have been saying for a while now: The tyres are made for Mercedes, who where the only ones with tyre issues. The rest had to adopt to the one area Mercedes failed it.

Marko has said this domination of Mercedes will last till Abu dhabi.

The least impressive streak of championships continues for Mercedes. What a farce.

It is an improvement because I don't have to see or hear him.

But admittedly I thought (hoped?) that the new guy being a long time F1 guy and an engineer would at least recognize the lack of logic in the strategies and strategic decisions and would take some action instead of making excuses like his predecessor.

The only one that I think would still have had influence enough to shake up things would have been Marchionne.

More conspiracy theories !! Now Newey joins in.

    The rules only suit Mercedes.
    Mercedes decided the formula.
    Mercedes imposed the token system.
Mercedes receives special treatment from Pirelli.
Mercedes has the FIA in its Pocket.
Mercedes drivers never get penalties by the stewards..
Mercedes is the cause for the lack of racing.
The accusations are never ending to explain why other teams don't catch up.

    This is a farce too.

F1 is a bit like politics: as long as you win (Ferrari 5 WDCs Under Schumacher, Red Bull 4 WDCs with Vettel), you don't complain, but when you lose, you start blaming the system and look for conspiracy.

    Same old story ....

Hate to pass the buck but you know the old saying that Sh*t runs downhill. The top being FIAT. I really wonder how much involvement comes from FIAT. Is Ferrari really just Fiat? Has the Independents of Ferrari really shrank in the last decade or so? Just thinking this because Scuderia Ferrari seems to have really gone from a organized pure racing mentality to a unorganized corporate one with a mix of racing brains and non racing brains. No real leader. When I think of Mercedes, Toto Wolf comes straight to mind as the competent leader. I think Ferrari is missing the leader.

I am not quite sure FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) has still much influence over Ferrari, and the Scuderia itself.
The 2 companies were de-merged some time ago, although they still share some shareholders and top management, I believe.
FCA itself is not without problems, and could even been swallowed by the PSA Group (Peugeot), if you believe some Financial newspapers.

It’s fact Mercedes had tire issues. It’s fact that the tires were changed. So it’s certainly true that the tires were altered to suit Mercedes. Just as Bridgestone was building tires for Ferrari.

Sorry blaming tires and other ridiculous conspiracy theories aren't going to help Ferrari. Period. LeClerc should have been back out there.

He knows it. And Ferrari know it too.

The other teams were already behind before the tyres were changed, and Mercedes didn't seem too affected before they were changed.
    So ?
It's not like Pirelli new tyres gave a big advantage to Mercedes, is it?
But the issue is just another excuse for teams that can't catch up, IMO.
