Copy. That's 3 for him so far. Once you hit 5 reprimands, you get a grid penalty.

The combination of rain and red flags could make this race a toss-up. How often has Max been outqualified by a teammate?

I didn't understand why Sainz got a reprimand? Was there enough time to act between flashing of red light and the corner?

The reprimand was for impeding during FP3. Not the quali incident.

He’s certainly building a strong case for that honor.

With about 5 minutes remaining, I was thinking we just might have seen the pole lap already. I wish we had the opportunity to prove that right or wrong. Anyway, let’s all do the dry dance for tomorrow.

There was no way to react to that situation. If Sainz is penalized….

Sainz should block the entire race for Charlie, especially in the rain.

Sainz is not having the best of years.

From the onboard camera, Sainz did try to turn in away from Perez.
But a basic knowledge of weight transfer in a vehicle should eliminate any surprise that braking and turning harder caused the back end to come unglued. Kinda what happens in a handbrake turn in rallye.
(I wonder how much about that Sainz would have been taught by his dad. :p)

That's likely what caused Perez to crash in the first place, going into that corner.

But poor Carlos has had crap luck all weekend. He never could seem to find a clear piece of track.

I don't think he had many options. He was in Q3 mode and carrying a lot of speed into the turn. When all of a sudden you see a road block, your natural response is to hit the brakes and try to steer clear, which is impossible to execute in a track like Monaco. I'm actually impressed it wasn't a complete pileup.

Yes, with the Perez/Sainz crash, almost everyone, forgot about Alonso crashing out. That just means that there was a reward
by pushing a bit harder. Finding that limit was the key.

The question to me is if Verstappen could have made the front row. He had been struggling to get the best lap, so maybe
he could have moved past Perez. Was he on a fast fast lap when he came to scene of the crime? I don't recall now.

Well, maybe not “hit the brakes”. Even lifting is a big problem when already committed into the corner. That’s why I don’t think Sainz had a way to avoid contact any more than he did.

Any word from the stewards on this?

Here we go again... yet another case of deja vu.... Charles P1, Carlos some mistakes and making every excuse for it (even crash aside).... RB lurking just behind probably licking their chops

For the love of MARANELLO please a win for the tifosi
