Grosjean leaps to 7th, scary. Let's see if he can do it on Sunday this time.
It's really poor show on the part of the circuit owners, to have wildlife wandering on the track. It doesn't give a good impression about the track preparation. I remember years ago, Montreal had problems with manhole covers that weren't welded, and came off too easily. The gravity of the issue became apparent when the ground-effect sports cars began practice, and the manhole covers started flying !! Two Porsche 962 cars got completely wrecked almost immediately when the loose manhole covers punctured the floor of their chassis. Luckily no one was injured, but team owner Walter Brun wasn't best pleased and sued the organisers for negligence. He finally obtained compensation I believe.
Are they sure it was a gronundhog? In one year, Saturday qualifying was delayed due to a power failure. They found out why when they found a smoking beaver carcass next to a major power line.....
on the previous page(I posted a pic) thare are pieces of it strewn on the track.....you can see GRO's rear end in the distance. Later, GRO is hugging the ground hog mascot.
agreed. Last yr GRO ran over a water drain on the track that was not properly installed and it was protruding upwards after another car ran over it at Malaysia and footed the bill to the circuit owners....$750,000.....I don't believe they paid. These ground hogs though are a tough bunch of wildlife to get rid of.....they have a network of tunnels. They also have a bird problem. We've seen some seagulls standing idly by on the track as well.
I remember years ago seeing a photo and headline in the Saturday French-language paper "Marmotte!" It was a groundhog sitting in the middle of the track like he owned the place.
[AMuS] According to rumors, Ferrari‘s new engine is worth 10hp. Only the internal combustion is new. Now the real reason why Mercedes didn’t introduce their new engine got also revealed. Their engine broke down after only 3700 kilometers.
This is concerning for the race - https://www.autosport.com/f1/feature/8253/why-mercedes-is-the-real-canada-favourite When it comes to race pace, things look far clearer. Hamilton's pace on the ultrasofts on long runs was good. Based on a nine-lap sample set, with anomalous laps discounted, he averages 1m16.366s. By comparison, Raikkonen lapped at 1m16.776s and Verstappen at 1m16.865s. That's a clear and unusually big advantage for Mercedes, supporting the idea it's in very promising shape. This appears to be another race weekend when all three of Pirelli's available compounds will be used, meaning a wide range of long-run strategies were taken during FP2. That said, those completing long runs on hypersofts saw a fair bit of degradation. Seven teams completed meaningful runs on the ultrasofts, giving this ranking based on nine laps. LONG-RUN PACE (ULTRASOFT) 1 Mercedes (Hamilton), 1m16.366s 2 Ferrari (Raikkonen), 1m16.776s 3 Red Bull (Verstappen), 1m16.788s 4 Renault (Hulkenberg), 1m17.400s 5 McLaren (Alonso), 1m18.114s 6 Sauber (Ericsson), 1m18.419s 7 Williams (Sirotkin), 1m19.297s
