Sadly another race I wont be able to comment on here for quite a while: Dopey Fox airs it hours later, so no Internet/FChat for me. Have fun.
My internet connection isn't that fast and I really hate watching something as important as a GP on a dinky little monitor. I want that on my big screen while sitting in the most comfortable seat in the house.
Last time I tried that it fried the video port on the laptop. But thanks for the help. I'll endure this one and hopefully then we're done with the Fox races. It is really annoying: We start with all the Asian races, which I tape because of their ungodly timing. Then when we finally move to Europe Fox tape delays everything.
No problem, I know what you mean about the Asian races I don't usually get up for them either. What cable were you using by the way?
VGA Might have been a crooked pin, but it sent the laptop into a tailspin and ever since it has problems booting into graphics mode.
Time to move to the UK Andreas!, We get all the practice sessions live on the BBC's digital "red button" channel and guaranteed live coverage of every qualifying session and race on the BBC, and at sensible times of the day too!. And to top it off, it's not pay per view either!. Things aren't all bad in the "olde worlde".!
And screw you too! [We don't even get P1 or P3 You also forgot to mention your highly regarded commentary team versus our guys..... Although, Buxton isn't doing too bad IMO - Do you UK guys know him?] Time change issues don't bother me too much - This is why we have DVR's. But not having it live on Speed in the middle of the night and having to wait for Fox *sucks*. Cheers, Ian
Hands down the BEST F1 coverage anywhere on the planet. I'm very lucky that SuperSport here in Africa bought the BBC (LIVE!!) programs for F1...we don't get the pre-after show though which is a big shame since that is always brilliant. And best of it all Andreas...If you don't want to move to poverty deprived UK (which is akin to Bulgaria atm), you can have a sky satellite with coverage anywhere in western Europe (Just kidding Brits...I actually think that the UK is one of the better place to live in Europe if you look at the big picture )
Thanks for rubbing it in. I have watched races on BBC while visiting the UK and yes your coverage is first class. The thing that was also awesome were all the post race interviews. Fox and Speed TV is really a dumbing down for the masses (what masses?) but it is all we got here. And I'm terrified every time my building association wants to switch channel providers because the next provider might not even carry Speed TV. I suppose that would be the time to switch to an internet TV setup.
Yeahhh baby!!! If only they would get rid of Jonathan Legard though. No it isn't pay per view but you still have to pay for it, but then there's not adverts in return so it's all good. Debatable... Thats all I'll say.
That's about right TBH!, pretty much all of Eastern Europe is in the UK now!. Don't believe Me?, you go to Poland, The Czech Republic, Romania, Bulgaria etc., there's no one there!, they've all come to good old blighty for the excellent F1 coverage!. BTW, you can't get F1 on Sky TV, they lost out to the BBC!. Sky wanted exclusive rights to the race and to make it pay per view but the FIA told them that F1 must be available to the major watching public in the UK for free ( free as in paid for via the TV licence). In the end Sky decided there was no point paying for F1 and trying to charge people for each race when they could see it for nothing on the BBC. In fact, if you watch Sky sports News, it's pretty much as if F1 doesn't exist!. My pleasure Sir! (Only Joking Andreas, I wish you and everybody else interested in F1 (not just Ferrari), could get the same level of coverage as we do in the UK. I do feel very priveleged but sometimes it does make having to work on Fridays a bit more of a chore as I have to miss the free practice sessions! ).
Whoa! I wish the FIA had that kind of weight with the US TV stations. FIA to Speed TV: - you cannot show races tape delayed - you must air all races and qualifying sessions - you may not use GP races to advertize for NASCAR - your commentators must treat the audience as mature and as people who have seen GPs before and know what KERS, standing starts, safety cars and option tire are and who already know that Michael Schumacher has won 7 titles and has been away from the sport for 3 years and drives now for Mercedes.
I must say it did make a refreshing change to see Sky fail to buy out a sport so that they could fleece the fans for every event!. For once the FIA didn't sell out to the highest bidder and stood up for the average man! (rare I know!). As to your list of criteria, they all apply apart from the final one (sadly ). We still get those reminders every race and we have to put up with Jonathan Legard, who frankly, is just annoying. However, We do get Brundle which compensates for Legard massively and makes the commentary bearable (to be honest, I have been known to shout at the TV to try and shut Legard up but he doesn't seem to hear Me! ). Now if only they would stop going to the pitcrew/pitwall /drivers girlfriend/drivers family etc., during a dramatic piece of action on track, the coverage would be almost perfect!. (Strangely, this phenomena is not only restricted to F1 but seems to have spread to all motorsport!. Just what the hell is that all about?!!).
With Sky I meant the satellite decoder thing, on the bare standard thing you get all the basic programming (BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and a bunch of rubbish programs)...That's what we had in Spain anyhow (until we moved last year), I assume you still get BBC on the sky decoder? As for the Bulgaria comment, I meant the sheer amount of track suits and suspicious looking chaps you see all the time over there...But you are right, everyone from Bulgaria, Poland and all other eastern bloc countries seam to live in the UK lol.
