Got the below from sky f1 reported from Ferrari pit crew 'Ferrari haven't broken any rules but had to remove oil auxillary lines from the second oil tank to the PU' @f1 technical
Sainz trying to get back on track but the kerbs kept him on the grass. Image Unavailable, Please Login
How is McLaren doing with their new improved Honda PU? Is it delivering an improvement in speed? Any read on vmax vs the others?
The amount laps means that ham is trying to save something for the last. Edit Kim is stuggling but that's fps for you no indication of qualifying. Performance progress for Honda at least although Vardoorne is down in 16th so yeah could be another Alonso smashing on him as it has been so far this season at all races when he raced against him and Monaco doesn't count.
Yep, with the ''Oil crackdown'' There's little excitement in Saturdays, again. I think Mercedes is still burning oil, but they do it differently. Ferrari used the secondary tank to burn oil, and had to disconnect lines...I think Mercedes may be delivering their oil differently and thus able to use the advantage still.
The bet is still off with the new engine coming for Ferrari in Sliverstone. If they gain say a 1 sec that will help sway it. Even a .5 sec different at the top could translate on more substantial times at the top. Right now they have to make do until the next race which isn't far off.
https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/hamilton-gets-grid-penalty-austria-927729/?s=1 YES! I know Ferrari will also get the necessary penalties later in the season but every little helps.
And the grid penalty is probably on one of the worst tracks for overtaking. So gg it's on still. Added bonus ham being to not get into q3 or even q2. And anyway I base on the comment of their engine upgrade on that renualt has a theory of .2 -.3 worth per lap so we have a worse manufacturer getting that results in that upgrade ferrari with their significantly better engine can probably do better than that so .5 or even nearer to 1 sec worth seems justified.
I'd say there are worse tracks to get this penalty at...in fact overtaking here is quite easy, especially with a very healthy engine.
