    At the head of the midfield and nearly taking the qualifying scalp of the driver who he's hoping to replace at Red Bull for next season, Sergio Perez was understandably very pleased with qualifying fifth at the Bahrain GP.

    "It was a really good qualifying," said the Mexican, who heads Renault rival Daniel Ricciardo on row three.

    "What really made our qualifying was Q1 actually, getting through on one set [of tyres] and then being committed on our strategy. We were clear on what we wanted to do for the race, starting on the medium. That also made a good difference.

    "Tomorrow it’s a lot to play for. A good start, good strategy, we can get a lot of points."

    Perez, who finished second last time out in Turkey to move into fourth place in the Drivers' Championship, is famed for his tyre management but even he believes a one-stopper on an abrasive Sakhir track surface is firmly out of the question.

    "We’re going to see between two or three stops tomorrow. It’s going to be a long race," he added.

    "As I always say, in Bahrain what only matters is your race pace. What happened [in qualifying] is not so important or critical."

    Fingers crossed Seb and or Charles and the team have a good day and race craft and race there was to the front. Would be so positive for get a podium for the last race.

    This seems to me demonstrably the low point of F1 in 2020. In the Qualification-thread only a few posts and in this only news about a cute dog..... I also fear a very boring race with a predictable result .... well, after that 2 more races and then it's over ....looking forward to next year, but eh, do I?
