    Next step for Mercedes:
1/ Pushing the FIA to investigate on the Ferrari PU
2/ At the same time bypassing the budget cap to recover the lost ground.

Mercedes have lowered their guard and came out with a car that is not up to their standards.

They were complaisant after too many years of success.

In the past they had the ability to redress a situation, let's see this year...

Lewis has never done well with another equally capable car is near him, let alone half a dozen. It'll be interesting to watch all year if Merc can't restore his chariot to 1 sec faster than the field.

It looks like the sudden departure of the Mazepin duo finally unlocked unforeseen potential at Haas.

They got rid of a below average driver and his overbearing father, to gain an experienced racer.

This is why I wrote "Every cloud has a silver lining".

My love of underdogs will never stop, and I am happy for the Haas team, the Cindarella of F1.

Maybe they are overconfident with all these years.
This car is extreme but Formula one history is full of cars with revolutionary concepts on paper which never translated into reality.

"no, no, no FIA! the cost cap does not define the currency and the exchange rate to be used!
We are based in England, so we can use 135 million pounds, not dollars!"
The Ferrari PU is too strong and the car too fast-need to slow it down for safety reasons!"
    This is soooo not right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

i think they came out aggressively, actually. That lack of wind-tunnel time seems to have been important. The design has unanticipated complexities, it would seem. If they can get it together though, maybe they’ll be back. (Sounds like a new floor design is in the makings)

Mercedes struggles now are what happen when you've got a diva driver and team principle, who blame everybody else for their mistakes, and have a media blowing smoke up their asses constantly.

The W13 has shades of the F60. It could be a sign of things to come at Mercedes. The 'lets point fingers' culture that arose at Ferrari, and began our downward slump has been rooting at Mercedes for the past year or so, and it's biting them now.

That's why Binotto is so good for Ferrari. He's got the attitude that Ross and Todt did that was "We don't care who's fault it is. Just fix the freakin' thing. Win together, lose together"

Wind tunnel time doesn't bring up the effects of porpoising....only track time.

I think this season may be a long duel between Ferrari and Red Bull, and it could be tough.

Out of the 2, if anything, I would prefer Ferrari to win, not being a fan of Red Bull.

I don't expect a fair context; Red Bull, Horner, and Marko are political animals compared to Binotto, whom I find naive.

They will use anything to derail Ferrari if it's a threat to them. As for Verstappen, he is like a bull in a china shop.

I don't know how many floor re-designs they've gone through (4 or 5?) but again I hope the costs are being closely monitored. Let's see how serious F1 is about leveling the playing field......

I just realize Binotto won the political battle against Arrivabene for the Ferrari leadership.
And Arrivabene was a tough guy.
I am pretty sure he will bite hard if he smell blood.( title opportunity)
Don’t forget the immense pressure he had to deal with the last three years in Ferrari.

I haven't seen the blame culture you are talking about appearing at Mercedes yet.

It was inevitable that soon or later their fortune would change: it happens to everybody, any team, even any country.

7 WDCs and 8 WCCs, I think they had a good inning, but the wheel turns.
