they did get the tire strategy wrong on the second stop. (Did he say “they” got it wrong or “we” got it wrong?). In the end, it wouldn’t have mattered….and it’s a hindsight thing. The Merc was faster on the mediums in practice, but when you’re trying to overcome a 4 sec deficit the advantage, (If any) over the hard tires disappears. They didn’t test hard tires either, so that was unknown territory,
Master class by Max today. Perez got to step up or Max might be too isolated to win it like Schumacher in 97 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
This historic track opened for 1 REASON and 1 REASON ONLY--> Max Verstappen. He delivered in race-craft in a race-winning car with a race-winning PU. The fans and vibes were MEGA!!!! (Monza-like when Ferrari wins).
OK... I literally threw up on my mouth seeing them put a superman cape on Max. Stupidest cheap stunt of all time. Completely embarrassing.
I have to wonder if the pace difference on hards between Leclerc and Sainz was from the practice Sainz lost after crashing out, ... ... or whether the practice crash made Sainz leery of pushing on hard tires.
My analysis is slightly different. The F310B from 1997 was far from being dominant compared to the McLaren/Mercedes. I mean this is the same with the RB16B. Schumacher and Verstappen are just extracting more than the inherent potential of their car. Perez do his best but no one can really blame him for his results. The Mercedes is always the class of the field.
It wasn't a stunt. It wasn't stupid. If you don't get the idea of a young Dutchmen, proud of having won his home GP, knowing the track was closed for F1 for 36 years, thankful to his country and hundreds and hundreds of people, dozens of sponsors, who worked hard to make the GP happen.... He put the Dutch flag over his shoulders because he's proud to be Dutch and he wants to thank all the Dutch people who are there for him. If to you that is a "stunt", well...
Dude, if I won a Grand Prix at COTA, I would use the American Flag to parachute down from the podium. I can't imagine the pride one feels.
For me, this was the best race of the season, so far. Until Hamilton pitted to go for fast lap, Max was always under threat. And even then, I had my fingers crossed that the tires would make it to the end. Mid-field, all the way to the back, there were great scraps. And except for Lewis and Max, the track seemed to keep everyone close together, so there were lots of chances to change positions. Though practice sessions seemed to suffer from the crowded layout, when it came to the race, not one safety car or red flag or even long-term yellow. I'd be happy to see it stay on the calender for year and beyond.
Really embarrasing is a comment that shows not any knowledge of the country Max is from, or where the race was held. Your cape is actually the Dutch flag. Bonehead...
