    Bas,
I say it and repeat it.
His abilities as a pilot are not in question but his psychological state has become unrecoverable.
It is no longer a problem of adaptation to the car, to the blown diffusers etc..
A sabbatical would have been a better choice for him.

Stroll has ‘different’ Aston Martin car – Vettel

    http://www.gptoday.com/full_story/view/769733/Stroll_has_8216different8217_Aston_Martin_car_8211_Vettel/

May 1 (GMM) As Sebastian Vettel’s struggles continue, he has revealed that Aston Martin teammate Lance Stroll is benefitting from a “different specification” this weekend at Portimao.

After trailing Stroll’s pace in Friday practice, quadruple world champion Vettel was asked if it is frustrating to be behind Stroll – whose father Lawrence owns the team.
“Not really,” he told Sky Deutschland. “He has a slightly different specification this weekend, which was clear in advance.
“I hope that he can make a step forward with it,” Vettel added.

Former F1 driver Ralf Schumacher says it is not a new situation for the Silverstone based team.
“We already had that last year – Sergio Perez was upset because Lance had a completely different car,” he said.
“But it’s a small team, they don’t have the capacity, they want to save money first and see if it works. That sounds stupid to us, but Lance is also the fastest driver at the moment,” Schumacher added.
“At the moment he is the better driver with the better results and then the worse one has to take a back seat.”

F1 legend Gerhard Berger, who remains a Vettel confidante, told Kolner Express newspaper: “After last season I told him (Vettel) to stop.
"If I was in his position, I would be happy to have been world champion four times and drive a classic rally sometimes or enjoy the other beautiful things that life has to offer,” he said.

Last year Stroll wasn’t the better driver and still he had the benefit of the updates. Don’t think he got these because he is quicker like Ralf says.
I don’t think we will see a fair comparison between Stroll and Vettel this year as stroll will alway have the quicker car.
Not surprising as this is how it went all his career. Daddy making sure he had the best equipment at all time.

Good morning. Quite an interesting third practice. Mick ahead of George and both Astons while Okie was a surprise in P5.

Hope Mick pace is real and will hold up through Q. Alpines good but too close to the front to think they weren’t in low fuel.

So the catching up Ferrari manages to be behind an Alpine... encouraging maybe?

Encouraging for who, Ferrari or Alpine? ;-)

Anyway, like I noted, Alpine I think were simulating quali with low fuel. Ocon within a tenth of Perez can’t be real. Hopefully Ferrari were on higher fuel loads.

Leclerc within 3 tenths from pole would be a success.

    The pathetic management favored Vettel..........
He has a small operation/optimal window. He fails to adapt to changes in cars/new cars quickly

Soundly beaten by Ricci and LeClerc who had little experience and little experience with the new car they moved into.

Vettel appears to have the same issues at Aston. He is not quite as adaptable as others. Pushing Aston forward as winners? Not unless they give him a car that resembles the RedBull of his past. He is the past. Its just now glaring obvious to others. It has been this way for 2 or 3 years. His intro to Ferrari showed he was slower than FA. They didnt gain a thing with Vettel they actually lost capability.

    "May have"????

Ferrari wasn't losing close to a second a lap to Mercedes in 2017 & 2018 and ending the race a minute or close to a minute like they are in 2021??

Why the deficit in 2021 and not in 2017 & 2018??
