full wets at the start of FP1, then a lot of Intermediates, then with about 4 minutes left we had some drivers try dry tires. Max slide off, then Albon slid off into the wall, red flag, session over. Image Unavailable, Please Login
FP1 times not really indicative as some drivers didn't even bother to go out. Others tried to get some much needed experience of driving in the wet. Albon goes fastest but ends up paying for his bravery by going in the wall.
Yes, but at the same time you have to push yourself to find your limits when you are a new driver. You don't learn anything staying in the pits (like Max). So I don't blame Albon for sticking his neck out and trying. I must say my comments about him will tend to be bias: I like him (and Norris too)!
11:10 Virtual safety car out as Pierre Gasly's engine goes up in smoke. 11:11 Gasly reports "engine problem, engine problem", and it indeed looks like a fairly classic blowout. He moves across to the pitlane exit and parks the car, his session coming to an end Honda reliability .....
Well yes, with Kvyat, that's 2 Honda engines going up in smoke during a practice session. That should give Red Bull matter for thoughts.
Honda should stop whining (whinging) about Ferrari's engine advantage and fix the reliability of their own engine - an engine evidently running at much lower power at that.
Where do you think RBR and Verstappen are getting their biased views from? http://classic.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/147117 Honda: Formula 1 engine battle has to be "fair" Image Unavailable, Please Login Honda's Formula 1 technical director Toyoharu Tanabe says it only wants a "fair" battle with rival engine manufacturers in the wake of suspicions over the legality of Ferrari's design...
I don't think neither the Red Bull management, nor Verstappen need encouragement to complain about anything. It's part of their culture.
True. In fact it sounds like it's RBR winding up Honda based on their "performance" analysis of the Ferraris.
In racing, I've always believed that if you're not occasionally accused of cheating, you're not trying hard enough. So bring it on.
