This happened 30 years ago with the IMSA GTP in New Orleans. Had to weld the covers to their fixtures. So not new, just shows Liberty has no clue about racing history

Didn't look like that with some of the posts on here with pictures of people giving it a thumbs down. I would too if I was forced to leave a grandstand I paid through the nose for.

Oh I don't doubt people were upset with it. I was as well. But in my section at least, there was pretty good entertainment that was on schedule and pretty fun. After the 2nd concert things went more south for sure.

I think each section had different stuff going on. People on the Strip had NADA. That for sure would have been boring.

And I'm not excusing anyone. This was unacceptable and a major F up. Should have never happened and the event organizers themselves seemed dumbfounded on what to tell the people attending.

Its a bit like asking Mary Todd Lincoln: "Well aside from the assassination, how did you like the play?"

Stroll chose the right event to announce his sale. Probably was a closed deal before the disaster in FP1...so he is getting out at the top of the market. Probably also markes Lance's exit from F1. Does Alonzo get stuck holding the bag?

I really hope Ferrari gets a solid result here. They deserve one after this. Great job by Fred and the crew getting the car together and making a strong showing. It wouldn't hurt my feelings if a dozen of Carlos's tear offs got jammed in Russell s brake ducts.

Leclerc reached a top speed of 345 kph on his fast lap. 330+ kph at a different point on the track.

It is seriously fast, especially with concrete walls surrounding them. Honestly I am not sure the run off is sufficient for those speeds.

    Nonsense.
Stroll senior sold a minority package to investors. Not the team. Dream on.

They sold a minority stake. Doesn’t mean Strolls are getting out of anything just yet, does it?

He is taking profit and reducing exposure. Perhaps lowering the price to buy him out by adding minority share partners. He is moving on.

Total disaster; US cops are the crudest most uncouth humanoids out there; sending them to ask -over-paying spectators to go home, very smart liberty:mad:.

Stroll will still be the largest shareholder and CEO. What are you talking about ? He is just selling some shares but stays in control.
Mercedes and Renault also sold shares in their F1 team.
Mercedes is now a MINORITY shareholder in MERCEDES-AMG-F1, they own only 33% of the stock.
Renault sold 24% of shares to American investors; do you think they are bailing out too ?

It wouldn’t surprise me if he’s recouped his investment. He didn’t get where he is by being a chump.

Wow lol - Fans and the company name Liberty should never be used together lol. What a bunch jackals they are!!

“Paid $3000 for a ticket to get kicked out after FP1 got cancelled,” wrote X user Paul Loeffel. “You couldn’t pay your employees to put on an event”. Fans were further angered when they were moved on from areas outside the track where they could still watch the action through black sheets which were meant to block the view. “Las Vegas PD [police department] and private security are kicking people off of every potential viewing spot,” Loeffel added.

He’s reduced his exposure by recovering some…perhaps even all…of his investment. Meanwhile he still controls the organization and if his remaining shares appreciate, he’ll be richer still. If they depreciate, not a disaster. He still has his original investment now working for him in some other way. It’s a perfect hedge. Well played.

NO - you will be giving refunds lol. Wow. These words are such pathetic investor traps. So cliche'd. Guess the Maffei bonus wont be as high as he hoped this year. Total ****e. What fan experience. Threatend with arrest lol. Bets he's never interviewed on camera this weekend. What viewers the one's asleep blowing off this crap of an event??

--“We’re going to have a high revenue stream, we’re going to have a high cost stream, but it’s more important that we have a great experience for everybody involved in the first year,” said Greg Maffei, CEO of F1’s parent company Liberty Media in an earnings call earlier this year.

“I think we will make a lot of money in Vegas over the long term. I’m very excited. I think we will make good money this year. But way more important than that is that we have a great experience, for our drivers, for our patrons, for our fans, for our viewers, for everybody involved. That’s the goal.”--

Some people don't know how business and finances work: first you start using your money, and then you make other people use theirs.

I was there and really looking forward to the race. Couldn’t blame them for stopping the proceedings but it was almost as deflating as the Indy incident (and, yes, another good choice to attend). It was much later than 81 for sure and I’ll always remember the name of the fortunate driver who escaped death; JESUS!!! Pareja….;)
