The pre-race show was embarrassing and unwatchable. The race was won by a team who has no idea why they were suddenly so fast. Sir Lewis will give Ferrari the "learning curve" excuse not to win next year. Charles is a very talented driver, but not a racer...he is Vasseur's lap dog. Carlos is an excellent racer who in the right car and with the right team, has a shot at being a WDC. But he will never be one of the greats. Max showed some brains and let the 4th WDC come to him. Lando is like a cross between Charles and Carlos...with luck, maybe a one time WDC. Of the top 6, Russell impressed me the most last night. Hamilton got carried to P2 but never had what it would take to beat Russell. Mid field was the most fun to watch. Only thing I like about the track is the long straight. If F1 never came back to Vegas, I would consider it a plus.

Yup, Carlos really showed his WDC talent at Brazil.

This and the fact all those teams falling over themselves trying to sign him… not. Even Red Bull preferred keeping Perez… probably because Sainz is a good #2 driver that didn’t accept he’s a number #2.

I’m going to have to watch the race again, but it looked like Carlos did Charles a solid by forcing Gasley wide in turn 1 and opening the door for Charles. It might have been purely coincidental, but it looked like an orchestrated pre-planned maneuver. Planned or not what happened next appeared to throw a wrench in any tire/race strategy Ferrari might have had. Charles totally shredded his tires by attacking Russell needlessly that early in the race. He started to fall off rapidly and I think things changed for Ferrari at that point.

Called it today also. You lose.

Both Sainz and GR have a good birds eye view of the race. Can't say that about F.

Best part is even though Sainz loses on points most people still think he's better than CL.
Like Alonso vs. LH. Can't fight that.

Congrats on winning again, though. :)

F1 is too boring. Except for Vegas
The street tracks are boring. Except for Vegas
Passing never happens anymore. Except for Vegas
There's no races on the West Coast for people to go to. Except for Vegas
F1 is too predicable. There's no surprises week to week. Except for Vegas

But F1 is great. Except for Vegas.

Needlessly because it didn't work. If he had passed Russell and pulled away then it would have been brilliant;)
Yes he did, but so did a lot of others. Charles wasn't the only one pitting after 9 laps. On the 2nd stint with Lewis on his tail he was able to catch Sainz while holding off a DRS-enabled Lewis for 6+ laps.

On the third stint Carlos purposely allowed Max to stay within DRS, thus inhibiting Charles from passing Max and then himself. While no change in total points for the team, Charles has a chance to catch Lando for 2nd in the WDC. Carlos is not fighting for such a standing. So team orders are no different than when McLaren issued the same a couple weeks ago. Oscar understood his role in the team, but Sainz apparently does not.

I didn’t watch the race (because sleep) but saw the highlight reel F1 releases

I didn’t see any non-DRS passing. assisted slingshots on straights isn’t my idea of exciting racing….

was there actual passing and I just missed it? if so I’ll watch the whole race

Well you missed Perez best past his highlight of the year, made on 2 cars in the same turn. That was actually good and clean.

"Purposely"? Are you sure the Ferrari without DRS is that much faster than the RB with DRS?

Most of Ferrari's speed in Vegas was on the straights, where DRS and battery could help Max keep up.

Remember the beginning of the race, when the front three didn't immediately walk clear of Gasly?

Max lost DRS on Carlos for a lap or two, and then suddenly had it again. Unlikely without a little help from Carlos.
