That was when Verstappen swerved in front and slammed his breaks, that was 100% Max's fault. He switched lines under braking and caused that. That is also what caused Ricciardo to leave the team, the fact they wouldn't chastise Max when it was obviously his fault.

This situation was not created or even contributed to by Ricciardo, he, like everyone but Stroll, was paying attention to the car in front and didn't hit anybody. Stroll is the only one who couldn't handle the situation and was rightfully penalized. Hulkenburg passed Ricciardo, despite Ricciardo never stopping on track or doing anything other than drive normally despite getting mounted by Stroll. I do not see why Hulkenburg was given a free pass there by the FIA. Ricciardo was penalized for taking the place back under safety car, which I kind of get, but why did Hulk get a free pass under safety car? He should have been penalized. In the end, Ricciardo got screwed by Stroll and then the ensuing circumstances and literally everyone but Stroll thinks it was Stroll's fault.

 

The infallible Ricciardo discovered others too can make mistakes.

 

Ricciardo didn't comment until he heard Stroll blaming anyone but himself.

I think the only inarguable fact is that Ricciardo was innocent and had his race ruined, and the situation, that has still to be explained (Hulk getting to pass under safety car) left him with a 3 place penalty for the next race.

This is what, 2 out of 5 races that Lance has totally cocked up? He hit the barrier in bahrain all by himself, after also doing it in practice, and then this catastrophe, and without any shred if accountability or remorse. Even his dad has to be getting fed up at this point.

The live comment by Stroll (calling for the idiot in front instead of acknowledging his lack of attention) did nothing to attract sympathy for him - as comical as it was, it was rather shocking.
