That would be a lot of work to accommodate that / or they have sacrificed cooling to something else.

or they use this technology, perhaps they all do!

It´s not so difficult to increase cooling. The not so easy part is doing it without sacrificing performance.

I don´t know what Mercedes has done, but as I´ve said, they have a comfortable margin to play with.

They´ve brought a "spec B". But only for one car. And it´s for Stroll. Despite Checo Pérez is ahead in the championship.

I can´t figure out why they´ve done this...

Yes, they certainly do have a distinct advantage. What intrigues me is the physics behind the airflow into the side pods, a car travelling on average at 60 metres per second, there is a huge volume of air passing through those ducts, I am guessing around 25,000 cubic metres / hr /duct. that's a lot of air!

This sort of thing is a major redesign and no doubt they have been working on it for some time & for these precise occasions. Personally I would have thought its just a bodge up job despite how pretty the new outlets are.

The Ferrari looks way more planted than the Merc. LEC and VET #1 and #2 with 16:00 to go!
