I almost feel that for Sainz, his new objective is to finish ahead of HAM to ensure we don’t lose out on 2nd place in the constructor’s.

Leclerc is on #2 across the board with regards to components allocations allotment.....ICE, MGU-H, TC, and MGU-K as mentioned.

IF Leclerc experienced a turbo failure or MGU-H failure or both, it will be #3 for Leclerc......after that its grid spot penalties.

Same goes for Sainz as well.

Max is on #1 for the components mentioned.

Checo is on #2 in the TC and MGU-H.

We had a DNF coming, good to get it out of the way. We have fast cars but are the second best team.

If Spain is the typical circuit in F1, there’s a decent chance Charles can win the WDC.

If not, I’ll still be pleased as long as Tyrrell remain in the distance.

    That sums it up perfectly.

He does seem to struggle when someone is on the outside and not hitting others.

Interesting race today. Some great commentary here as usual. Isobel is spot on, Ferrari were due to a DNF and it’s better here than in Monaco where I don’t believe Red Bull will qualify all that great as it’s an aero-heavy car. The Ferrari has more mechanical traction than anything on the grid. Monaco is their’s to lose

So Stewards are wrong? They have the data, steering angles etc. Simple racing incident! Lap 1!! Kmag ambitious. Saving mileage on a motor 50sec adrift is not a poor strategic call. LH even apologized. His call was a nothing story given how difficult to pass in Spain in the past. Many teams strategically retire cars. This cannot be news lol. It worked out well the team disagrees and they encourage him to continue.

I didn't say he was fully at fault.

It was a racing incident, but it could have been avoided had he stayed tighter on the corner. Hamilton famously said "no one overtakes me round the outside". Let alone a Haas I would think.

It's happened more times than neccessary in the last few years with drivers going around his outside he ends up hitting them.

To say after 2 laps that he wants to retire is not the attitude of a champion. Especially so early in the race with a Safety car (especially in todays era) is very possible. If after 25, 30 laps it turns out you're making no progress, the car is damaged or whatever, yeah then you box.

Last year Max dragged half a Red Bull across the lines after being torpedoed by the Mercedes' on the first lap into the points. Didn't hear him crying to retire the car...

F1 warns Spanish GP to fix 'unacceptable' traffic issues
Formula 1 has labelled the Spanish Grand Prix's crowd management issues as "not acceptable" and has urged the local promoter to address the problem for next year.

The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya announced it had been sold out for the 2022 edition of the race after going through two COVID-19 years with limited attendance, stating 300,000 flocked to the Barcelona venue across the weekend.

But soon enough it became apparent the venue was not prepared for the sell-out crowd, with larges queues forming around the limited food and drinks concessions and toilets.

Particularly on Saturday and Sunday, the severe congestion on the access roads around the circuit ground traffic to a halt, with fans then struggling to find parking space. The small Montmelo train station also struggled to transport fans to and from the city centre during peak hours.

The crowd problems were made worse by the heat, with Catalonia experiencing its hottest week of the year so far as temperatures soared above 35 degrees on the weekend, leaving many fans to brave the weather without adequate provisions.

Many fans voiced their displeasure on social media, with some even suggesting they wouldn't return for race day despite having bought a ticket.

I wonder if someone else did the traffic management now.

in 2016 it was PACKED and it took minutes to get in and out of the track. My parking was very close to the entrance I was using (near the final chicane).

No, he was not. Max was fastest. Then Perez and George, followed by Sainz and then Lewis.

If you want to go by some "intangible" metric that ignores the results, Charles was the fastest. Then Max, who had mechanical issues and an off yet still decisively won the race. Then Perez, who was told to let Max by. And so on.

It's always fun watching the usual suspects tie themselves in knots desperately trying to diminish Lewis' superb drive :D

He finished behind his teammate and 3 other guys. Knots are only required if you want to call it superb.

It was a good call from Lewis's pit crew to stay in the race rather than "save the engine" and quit.

Agreed. It's not unusual for Hammy to sound a bit cranky on the radio. Bottom line is he stayed out there and did well under the circumstances.

Well then to be fair one can ask what took him so long especially compared to Jorge' Russell? But that's alright . . . He did well.

To me this was a rough show for Ferrari. Lec really put it together, came back from a bad spot in Q, ran a BOSS lap, was half a race ahead of everyone and..... Well, as they say, that's racing. I want to say CS did well, but IDK. He CAN put a hell of a lap in, but seems spotty. I think his spin was because the fast tailwind unloaded the wing. Just like an aircraft, headwind to tailwind you lose lift. (down force) in this instance. There was some great racing today overall. I'm not a Ham fan, but he put in the work. I was not aware that Ferrari has used up so many ICE's and Max is on #1. To me that the most disconcerting thing. Cant win if you don't finish.

That graph is relative to the leader's average lap time. For large chunks of the race, the leader was under no threat at all and not pushing. Lewis, once he wiped his tears from his visor, had to push the entire race.

I don't know about you, but I don't find it superb when someone makes a mess then cleans it up, winding up right back where they started. Lewis started 6th and finished 5th, with one car ahead of him retiring. For anyone else, it would be a rather forgettable day.

Nobody goes to the Hall of Fame for recovering their own fumbles.

Nothing official from SF but it looks to be the turbo or MGU-H or both.
