They went full yellow so the rescue crew could restart Dixon after a spin that was totally his fault. I don’t see that as real racing…he spins due to over driving, then stalls and needs AAA to get him back in the race….and the rest of the field is punished.
I'm giving Fred V solid credit for letting them fight. I'll say that was the best racing this season. Say nothing about teammates. On the limit but professional. Charles got a bit horny, but who wants a pure bread Arabian to slow walk. Let the drivers work out the lead.
Aside from that not being my point….I’m sure there have been plenty of cleanups and recoveries, and race stoppages, in IndyCar that have taken that long.
You spelled IMSA wrong. indycar kept it green with 23 to go to get (insert name i'm forgetting) to pit becasue he was the only one off sequence and would have been hosed...then when he was out...tossed the yellow. sjd
I'd say more props to Carlos for holding off the Red Bulls as long as he did -- with no real help from Charles. Where was Chuck when he had a RB in front of him? He only attacks his teammate?
You laugh but you aren't far off to be honest. And I'm not saying that because it's Lewis (well, a bit, but I'll explain): Lewis turned right for a corner that goes left...yes he wanted optimum entry but there was a car there that had every right to be where he was. Lewis is a multiple World Champion, how he made that move is something you sometimes see on sim racing, typically when the guy doing the crashing is on a single monitor and doesn't have the field of view of someone on triples. And even then, such a move is hugely scrutinized. For this specific corner the optimum entry isn't even needed all that much since Lewis would essentially be blocking the track anyways so Piastri couldn't legally get passed again. Doing this in sim racing is bad. Doing this in F4/F3 would result in a pretty hefty penalty. As a multi F1 WDC with 16+ years of F1 experience? Inexcusable. 5 seconds was a slap on the wrist.
I dream of a broadcast without Croft. He is utterly useless and annoying. Martin, Karun, Jenson, Ant, Ted……they save the broadcast imo. Crofty is an old ass snowflake who needs to be replaced. But it’s because he’s a snowflake that he won’t be since American owners of F1 are trying to get more snowflakes interested. #fireCrofty
Yeah but PIA put himself in a position where he could only get punted off. He'd already lost the corner and in the good old days, drivers would accept that and move on ... because motor racing was dangerous. Now that the sport is less dangerous than cycling, they hang on to a lost position in the hope that they will get a break from the stewards by whining on the radio about 'he pushed me off' or he didn't give me room' (*) (*) See PER on RUS and several others in this very race.
sorry, but no. Absolutely not. Lewis swung right to get a better line, when he was not yet clear of Piastri. Lewis could easily have cleared Piastri staying on the line he was in. You can't just tell a driver to disappear ''because he already lost''. That's not how it works now, that's not how it should ever work. Lewis moved, under braking, to take that line. Piastri moved as far right as he possibly could yet it still wasn't enough for Lewis. Piastri is actually entitled to make lewis go as far left as possible but he didn't do that. Appearances at least. Bet some things got lost in translation and CL will get a dictionary dropped on his head. He seemed to know this as he was very touchy feely post race, espousing with gusto on his great love for (sneaky ....) racing.
Hmm, I guess you're a hater then. (We already know Bas is a hater). RUS was just unlucky; came out on coldish tyres and tried to stay ahead, and then couldn't give the place back without losing even more time.
That's how it used to work - until it all got overly aggressive and over-stewarded. There was a time when if a car broke down on the straight and was parked against the barrier, the race would continue with just a yellow for a few laps. Now we get a 30 min delay.
Exactly ! Also, when a driver breaks a thumb, they made a story out of it. F1 is too sanitized these days. There is hardly any risk MotoGP riders compete with broken collarbone! Once Dany Sullivan raced at Indy with a broken arm in plaster, one week after a crash, etc ... etc ...
I don't think I've ever seen a driver holding his line under braking, then get turned in on (the other way the turn goes), then be told ''well, he shouldn't have been there''. Lewis and his fans still somehow believe that ''competitors'' should roll out the red carpet, get on their knees and wave Lewis passed simply for being around him. Ludicrous. Absolutely ludicrous.
Everyone keeps telling him to stop trying the impossible...so he did just that...poor guy can't please anyone!
Flying back from Monza. What an experience! Anyone who wants to go please message me. Even with 3/4 better than last year and the environment is so amazing to be in Lafamilia Ferrari. There is hope and for a while it was magical beyond words….. Alfa Flyover not my shot the others Ill take the blame. Better organized this year but there are tricks to race day which I have learned and happy to pass on. I would say that it is one of the races that the prices never go down after tickets go on sale….
