Corporate involvement in racing ($B) has a very low tolerance for risk of any kind.

And so? Hamilton effectively had NO penalty for destroying someone else's race.

I doubt it. I have seen F1 tires with marble(clag) pickup and it's more even on the tire rather than being random on the tire.

Carlos had radioed earlier that he wasn't sure he'd make it to the end.
The team told him, "we'll see". ;)

F1 is not on public TV anymore in Germany. Last year I made an effort to drive to a (irish) pub to watch.
Burger $15, two beer $10, tip $5, parking $5 fuel for 30 km drive to town, (walk to pub, free),... Total: $40. Add 30% this year?
    Pub was deserted.

That was the last time I went. I even forgot which race I watched.

Who won last weekend? Sorry, I am sarcastic.

It looked to me like you were saying that Piastri put himself in a position to make a claim to the stewards to fight for the corner there after he lost it on track.

I do try not to debate topics disingenuously, so, no, if that wasn't your point then I didn't understand your point.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

My point was simply that Piastri sustained damage because he put himself in a position where he could get hit. He'd already lost the corner but the modern way is to keep on the outside and hope that the stewards find in your favour when you don't make the corner.

Hamilton got the standard 5 sec penalty that's dished out under the modern rules, but there seem to be some people here that think he should have been hung, drawn and quartered because Piastri came off worst.

That doesn't make any sense regarding Piastri's situation and Hamilton.

Piastri had NO WHERE to go. Hamilton just made a mistake like so many F1 drivers have done in the past in similar situations. It's racing.

    No truer words spoken!

I used to be fairly indifferent to Lewis, but damn he makes it hard to be likable. His comments about the records were classless. I applaud him though for being a master of manipulation. Speak softly, spread compliments around to everyone when the cameras are out. How many times has he ruined someone's race and got a meaningless penalty. It's always seemed that they give him something to say they have all the while knowing it won't affect his standings. Then... he can be the good guy and go apologize.

Well I subscribed to F1 and watched the race last night. It was worth the money...and I liked the coverage better than ESPN so I won't have to worry about that again. Charles' driving behavior after Perez got by Sainz was insane...desperate. Why didn't he attack Perez like that? He really is melting down. Sainz showed he belongs on the team. Leclerc showed that his ego is getting in the way.

I think Piastri had the right to be where he was, which was going to make Hamilton's cornering tighter. I don't think Piastri would have ever gotten the position back from there, but Hamilton made a mistake and moved into him under braking. Piastri learned that you can be in the right and come off worse - as Joe says, that's racing. If Hamilton hadn't had a lot of extra speed, the 5 second penalty could have been pretty significant, but as it was as he built a gap. I the overall result was unlucky for Piastri, but I wouldn't say it was unfair - next time, he'll have the experience to know to protect his car a bit better (backing off a bit) when the position is lost. Alonso might have slowed to then tuck in behind and attack with a better exit line.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

Again, I really think Carlos deserved the podium. He was under attack all race from both Red Bulls. What I don't understand is why Chuck tried so hard to overtake to the point of locking up his tyres on several occasions.

So whereas Carlos deserves the podium, Chuck deserves a talking to about teamwork.

Yes Leclerc's aggression towards his team mate was difficult to understand after he let Perez go by, almost easily.
Probably an attempt to stamp his authority in the team, but risky all the same, since Sainz wouldn't have any of it.
Clueless Vasseur said after the race it was OK for him though.

Right before he did it, there was a radio call for "no risk" for the remaining laps. Poor teamwork from Leclerc, it could have been a double DNF.
