I like the sun but detest the heat so I never take Summer holidays. The only exceptions to that are weddings and funerals. I dread every time a family member decides to have Summer wedding, funeral "decisions" I can forgive. Yes, September, October and even November are my preferred vacation months. On occasion, I can be blackmailed into a Winter escape to the Caribbean but I then have to hide from the intense sun!

I do swim and the ladies love it but it's not a big deal for me. I prefer to sit in the shade and read between the occasional dip to cool off, all the while plastered with maximum sun block.
