On some go-kart tracks they have a system (I have no idea how it actually works, but it does) that drastically limits the engine power for some seconds if you cut a corner - that's really deterrent :p

I expect them to lose but I see why they would do this!

Why not a tyre damaging surface in the run-off area? Pretty similar to a wall:)

Removable kerbing that slows down those that go off track and a defined rejoin path. They really would not need much of that in Austin actually. This is preventable even with absurd rules.

Running your opponent wide has been tolerated for years(Lewis is a master at it) but it is enforced only when track limits are exceeded. I think that it is just unsportsmanlike. Both parties need to be in jeopardy, especially the instigator. Competitors need to give each other racing room.

Running you opponent wide, or closing the door are unforunately tolerated tactics.
If the opponent resists and the cars come into contact, he is often penalised !
Sportmanship is totally gone out of the window these days.

United States Grand Prix venue could be upgraded to feature adjustable gravel traps first implemented in Austria in the wake of Verstappen/Norris clashes, but FIA cannot force race promoter to make the change and problems with installation remain

No, it's not up to the promoter, but the FIA can suspend the track licence for GP if it doesn't comply with their requirements.

As for the changes made to the Austrian circuit seen on the photo, they are hardly disuasive since they kept the painted tarmac run-off area behind the gravel bed.
I guess at the next GP, we will see drivers flouting track limits, surf over the gravel and rejoin the track after an excursion in the run-off part.
What is needed is any car trespassing in that area to be severely handicaped for the rest of the race, or eliminated from it !!

The FIA has rejected Mclarens right of review " as there is no new relevant element."
