Apologies! I mistakenly thought he was replying to the guy that said Russel was sabotaged to let the "has been" win. George definitely looked to have a (slight) pace advantage, until the track got wet. So many things could have gone wrong for every driver today. Took not only supreme skill and balls to finish near the front but a big dose of luck, and of course not having the pitwall screw things up. For the final 10 laps I was waiting for a backmarker to stuff it into a barrier, bringing out a safety car and bunching up the top 3 for a final sprint to the flag.... I'm not a religious man but thank god that didn't happen! Even if this is his only win of the season Lewis will be coming to Ferrari with a good bit of his swagger and mojo back.
Isn't he worth nearly a Billion? And, HE will be able to sign sponsors to his MotoGP team, it's not like he will foot the bill for all of it. EVERY driver wants to end up with Ferrari at some point. Senna was headed there after Williams, if you believe the reports from back then.
Lewis won fair and square. Mercedes is back on the ascent and in the fight for being the best team going into 2025. Hamilton will get a nice pay day from Ferrari, but they can't give him his 8th WDC. Mercedes looks like they could...except that Russell is just a little faster. For all of Lewis' good form today, I think there are younger drivers who are as fast or faster...and hungrier in the way a seasoned champion simply can't be.
Reasonable analysis up to a point. What LH has is huge experience something sorely lacking in the Ferrari driver lineup. By experience I mean a front runner for some considerable time and someone who knows how to play the game and win. Hamilton awareness of what was going on around him was the difference today, even Verstappen on a charge and clearly on superior tyres couldnt do it. Lets hope he brings some stability to a otherwise incompetent strategy team and thumbs down for Vasseur, he has the knowledge & is the boss, he should override stupid decisions.
We don't... PS. YOU are included in the "We don't" part. George got a gift last weekend, he should STILL be thanking the racing gods for that.
Charles should have learned from Carlos by now lol Leclerc in "worse than a nightmare" after failed British GP intermediate call Ferrari's wavering F1 form was exacerbated by call to pit Charles Leclerc onto intermediates too early at Silverstone Leclerc added that it was difficult to view the opening laps to his race as positive given the outcome, and wanted to review the intermediate call with the team. He added that the team was in a "tricky situation" after rolling back on its Barcelona upgrade to quell the high-speed corner bouncing, and hoped to find a resolution after coming across a more consistent balance at Silverstone. "It's really difficult to look at positives on days like this. I just want to go back with the team, that we analyse the way we are making those decisions on my side, and why we were on the wrong side today," he said.
No. Don't forget that Lewis was in the fastest car, or at least 2nd fastest car (to McLaren) today. Secondly the strategy of McLaren was subpar. Thirdly; Lewis was a bit lucky with boy George's technical problems.
Hard to believe LEC went from 7th to 14th because of bad strategy! If he'd stayed where he was, 6th was just as likely with RUS retirement. I just want to go back with the team, that we analyse the way we are making those decisions on my side, and why we were on the wrong side every-day,"
Sainz only 4 points (corresponding to the award for an 8th place) behind Leclerc in spite of having missed one GP (during which Bearman, replacing Sainz, scored 6 points).
That was my conclusion years ago. It doesn't matter who they have as team boss so long as there are muppets above that level calling the shots. I mean...they fired Arrivabene for producing a championship level car, then kept Vettel and Binotto well past their sell by dates. Ferrari is going to be a clown show until the people at the top level above the team leave. Don't hold your breath.
Sir G.O.A.T. is back! Finally a decent car! Hamilton doesn't seem to age. He still very strong and amazing skills in the rain. A bit of luck by Norris's tire choice mistake and Piastri ruined race though. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I imagine he's thrown in the towel mentally. We've seen it before with other drivers and we'll see it again.
Doesn't Ferrari monitor the top 6 cars in this race with regards to lap times. That would have been a no brainer to make the switch to inter's.
Doesn't matter. Leclerc was on the track and could've said "No" just as Hamilton and the others did when their teams asked the question.
Hamilton drove the wheels off his car for the first time in a couple of years, and it was nice to see. Reminded me of his early years with McLaren. We'll see if he has second thoughts on Ferrari, but I think his input would be a welcome change to the team in terms of technical feedback. He's been an integral part of Mercedes finding performance out of their car to the point that it can now win races. Ferrari need to use some weekends as test sessions to find their mojo again. The crybaby "fans" that trash the team that had an excellent run going from last summer until Monaco need to get a grip.
Ferrari you clowns! Yet another debacle for the strategy department to wreck Leclerc’s race. It’s so embarrassing. Say what ever excuses you want, but that’s professional incompetence on a scale which would see most people fired in any other team. McLaren - what happened to your strategic geniuses???!!!! Who in their right mind asks a driver what tyre they want, and then literally offer every option - soft, mediums, or hards?! How the hell is Lando meant to know?! He’s driving the car whilst McLaren have an army of circa 50 highly paid analysts and data scientists pouring over every ounce of data in real time. It was obvious that the right answer was fresh mediums, and not used softs. Facepalm central. Despite being a one driver team now, Max did a great job to get to second and I really thought he could take the win, but it wasn’t to be. 1 or 2 laps more and he would have taken it. The guy is a machine, and surely nailed on for WDC number 4. Finally, credit where credit is due, Ham drove a great race today and was a worthy winner. Great speed in wet and dry conditions, and when he got put on used softs for the final stint, he did an amazing job to keep his head, and keep the tyres alive long enough to avoid falling off the cliff till the end. Bravo. A top quality win. Emotional stuff for most Brits.
It kinda does matter because either Charles made the call and the result is solely on him, or the team made the call and he didn’t have the self confidence to say no. I wonder if Carlos was given the option or if Ferrari just wanted to split their “strategy”.
I thought Merc only offered a 1 year deal? Pending performance for anything further? If Merc keep this up Max is officially a fool for not joining. McLaren and Merc have proven the Merc power unit is the best on the grid and Red Bull/Ford aren’t about to nail it right out of the gate in 2026. James Allison and Toto’s management skills performed a masterclass on the field with how to turn a car around, there’s no way Maximus isn’t taking notice. I doubt at this point Red Bull will have the best contender even for 2025 let alone 26. Lewis will ride off into the sunset in red as Senna wanted and I predict Lewis won’t have a single win with them they’re so disorganized. Newey can’t/wont fix that if Allison couldn’t.
