MY LORD!!-- Max's backing out, then pass of Carlos on 18 told it all: vastly quicker and vastly skilled, and Carlos did his best with hand dealt.

Just no answer...I can't blame Sainz for it at all. With the massive speed difference Sainz also knows any time spend defending will only bring Perez closer. Unfortunately that wasn't enough either. From Sainz' (and Charles) words yesterday after quali it was already a done thing: They where fully expecting Max to show his face at the front if he made it past lap 1.

They gave it their all and that's all we could really ask. The pit wall on the other hand, not that it really matters now with what the Red Bull has become.

My theory is that Ferrari is under a $$$$ contract with Netflix to add some hilarious moments to the next F1 season.

The only thing I got from that interview/public relations tape is that Carlos has big manly hands and Charles has little girlie hands.

This was my first time watching a race on the F1 app. I canceled my FIOS TV and am streaming now.

On the Post Qualifying Analysis show, they displayed the following image: Image Unavailable, Please Login

As you can see, Ferrari set their car up to be faster in the slow short section and slower in the long fast sections while RBR set theirs up to be faster in the long fast sections and slower in the short slower section. This is NOT the first time we have seen this! Azerbaijan, and even Miami. When all the teams have access to this data over the course of a weekend, why does Ferrari continue to do this?

While a computer simulation may indicate this is the fastest single lap, it has been demonstrated multiple times in the past that they will get passed in the race!

What are their objectives and goals for this season?
It seems like they are trying to get 3rd place constructors with 5th and 6th in the driver's championship. Why?
They seem like they are trying to finish behind Mercedes.

They clearly were targeting a non-podium 5th place for LeClerc and who knows what, if any target there was for Sainz.
Did Ferrari accidentally design the fastest best-handling car this year?
Did Ferrari accidentally hire several of the best/fastest drivers this year?

I am convinced Ferrari is trying not to win races now! What is there that we don't understand why winning would be bad for Ferrari?
I wonder if the strategies were really faulty. If they were intended not to win, they were successful strategies!

The advertising campaign needs a makeover:
    MISSION WIN NOT NOW!!!

    Pretty good answer

    > There were several factors that led to the landslide victory for Red Bull and Max Verstappen in Belgium. The high-speed circuit requires an efficient aerodynamic package, an area where the Red Bull is particularly strong as the RB18 generates more downforce than any other cars through the floor, without creating more drag.
    >
    > In addition, Red Bull also had better tyre wear, which was not necessarily expected after practice on Friday. Because of the warmer conditions expected on Sunday, Ferrari decided to add more downforce to protect the tyres. But the plan backfired, and made Sainz wonder how Verstappen could set fast laps on the soft tyres after 15 laps, picking off one rival after another.
    >
    > The third reason was hidden in the special setup required by the traditional Belgian circuit. To alleviate the hard touchdown in the compression through Eau Rouge, and over the nasty bumps through Stavelot, the teams had to increase their ride heights by up to six millimetres more than usual. This caused Ferrari and Mercedes to fall into a window where their aerodynamics no longer delivered the usual downforce. As a consequence, both teams had to trim the chassis harder than usual, which costs mechanical grip.
    >
    > The Red Bull, on the other hand, was perfectly comfortable with the increased ride height and therefore it also kept its normal form. "We have already shown many times during the season that our car can cope with a higher ride height," Horner confirmed.

If that’s the case, I wonder why Leclerc wouldn’t have an advantage in the final turn as well since it’s a hairpin.

Don't forget Max subsequently executing a perfect tearoff toss right into Charles' brake duct.

I just have to laugh, but good grief, when it rains it pours.

Hamilton medical check refusal prompts FIA warning

    Image Unavailable, Please Login

The Belgian Grand Prix stewards have warned Lewis Hamilton for his apparent initial refusal of a medical check following his collision with Fernando Alonso – and hinted at stronger penalties if Formula 1 drivers continue to do this.

Hamilton’s car was sent airborne and landed heavily after contact with Alonso caused by Hamilton turning in when he tried to pass the Alpine around the outside at Les Combes.

He was able to continue briefly but stopped the car later around the lap and retired.

The impact with the ground was so violent it triggered the medical warning light, which mandates a check for the driver at the medical centre.

Race director Niels Wittich reported Hamilton to the stewards for allegedly refusing to visit the medical centre until the team was told that further action could be taken if he did not.

According to the stewards, “this is not the first time this season that drivers (not Hamilton) have initially refused to go for a medical check”.

They have issued a warning to Hamilton but also taken the opportunity to remind all drivers “that stronger action may be taken in the future”.

Hamilton joked he almost broke his back in the landing but said he did not feel any pain and just expected to feel sore in the morning.

2 different types on corner. Last one is a low speed hairpin that requires chassis, pouhon is a nearly flat out corner that requires high downforce.
Max was clearly playing 4d chess

I can accept Ferrari being slow(er) on this track + a few others as it is impossible to build a car suited to every circuit on the F! calendar. However I held my heads in my hands when Leclerc came in for the fastest lap........they were not fast at any time over the weekend and so went for a pointless point and lost two. Reminds me of the old guy who dropped a five pound note to pick up a one pound coin.

This has to be a new low just as we hoped it couldnt go any lower.

Clearly there have been some harsh words by the drivers as the team are now asking them what to do.........QUESTION - another cock-up?

RB made Perez the hare to chase Sainz into destroying his tyres and it clearly worked. They knew RB were faster so why chase a dream.. As for Mekkies saying all is well underlines the fact he part of the problem.

This is where Binotto is failing. Aim for 2nd spot in the WDC & WCC. Much as I hate to say it but Red Bull have you covered on everything.

    They are not stupid.
Everything is about compromise and this is the best they achieved with the SF-75.
Fact is the Red Bull is now a lot more efficient with very good top speed and enough downforce for the slow section.
    That's it.

Yeah. No point setting the car up for S1 and S3 when the Red Bull was always going to dominate that. Spa is quite a unique circuit in regards to set up, where a good race can be had on either the low or high downforce set up.

Ferrari got the Maximum result yesterday with P3. Ferrari was never going to challenge here. Too easy to **** on Ferrari strategy but this weekend their only mess up was taking an unnecessary but given the championship standings, understandable, risk and didn't make it. Sainz's soft strategy at the start wasn't smart but also didn't impact his result.

So if the RB is superior why does Ferrari out qualify them?

Until Belgium that was mainly true but :

1/ Qualifying pace is one thing, race pace is another ( as Russell demonstrated this yesterday)
2/ For the first time this year Verstappen was out of reach for both Ferraris saturday.

I don't buy the fact that this result is track dependant, i believe Red Bull is smarter to improve his car during a season like they always did.
    Period.
