Awesome. What a circuit that was. Brain Redman’s book starts with Spa and is well worth a read. The death toll prevents you from slipping into too much nostalgia for the ‘good old days’. I only wish that more modern tracks were half as good as modern Spa.

they must have made an internal decision to just show up and not fight, and kill time untill new rules are in etfect
I dont see another explanation If even Charles can't carry the car to top 10, to me it means they will stay where they are and wait 2 years to attempt a return to glory

 

Seems they losing a lot in S2

 

FP1 : 14th and 15th
FP2 : 15th and 17th
FP3 : 17th and 20st

If they continue, they will be 19th and 20st for the qualifications and the 2 cars will have and accident together at the first corner...

Can't find the training results for Spa 1980, but the race results are: Villeneuve finished 6th (Q 12th) and Scheckter 8th (Q14th)

Ferrari will sign for that on sunday

Spa was not used for Formula One in the year 1980; the "new track" came back in the 1983 Championship I seem to recall. During the 1970s and the beginning of the 1980s, it was mainly Zolder; and Nivelles once, if my memory, etc...

In 1980, when there were more cars than there were starting spots, Jody Scheckter, who was the defending World Champion (with number 1 on his car) even failed to qualify at one race! That was probably the lowest point in Ferrari's F1 history.

 

If you're looking for Ferrari's worst qualifying performance purely on pace, could be Singapore 2009 when Kimi and Fisi were P13, P18 - even then Fisi was in his second race as replacement for Massa. In normal circumstances, it's Britain 1980 where they came P19 and P23.

 

My guess is that the death or dismemberment of a driver is worse than what is currently going on.
