About 2hrs and 15min till FP1
I'll be lucky to watch anything at all this weekend. My F1 channel disappeared from my TV, replaced with 3 pointless ones...and internet isn't very good here so will be lucky to stream it.

F1 Turkish GP: Hamilton leads FP1 with new Istanbul Park track record By: Luke Smith Oct 8, 2021, 5:37 AM Lewis Hamilton topped opening practice for the Formula 1 Turkish Grand Prix with a new track record as drivers found significantly more grip than last year at Istanbul Park. Will tire wear be an issue for this one?

With the world champion team concerned about the risk of a reliability failure in the closing stages of the championship, it has opted to fit Hamilton with a fresh internal combustion engine for this weekend’s Turkish Grand Prix. The choice to change just a single component means Hamilton will get a 10-place grid penalty rather than a back of the grid drop that would have come from a full power unit swap. Speaking about why Mercedes did not go for a complete switch, Shovlin said it felt a full change would not have offered the benefits needed to justify it. Mercedes trackside engineering director Andrew Shovlin told Sky Sports F1: “We are simulating all the races until the end of the year. “There is the balance and risk of a reliability issue, and obviously the thing that you definitely don’t want to do is fail during the race and then have to take a penalty anyway. “Then there is also a performance element because the power units do lose a bit of horsepower over their life. “The 10-place penalty is the bit that most contributes to that reliability element and the performance is the ICE itself, so it is better to take 10 places than to start from the back.”
Bad graining in front tires for FP1 Ferrari. This will be a very green track, more grip and less data available from last year rain with no grip. Interesting to see who adapts.
My issue is internet speed...2mb/s on a good day and it just buffers like crazy. Thank goodness my internet doesn't cost a grand a month. Oh wait. It does. Paradise Picking up a 4g router tomorrow and getting some very expensive data just for the race, lol
Ok Bas. I have links for F1 marked when I travel. I hope the new system is successful!! Interesting to see teams adapting to the grip levels being much improved and inducing understeer for many. Should mix it up a touch!
Really happy SKY has Laurent Mekies from Ferrari to chat live on PitWall this weekend! Nice to hear Ferrari news and insights.
