Checo needs to try and keep LULU at bay for as long as he can. Max should be able to pass Bottas at first or second corner. That's what I would like to see anyways. Charles would do well finishing 4th. Carlos top 10 for sure.
Ha-ha, good one, though better if he becomes bad-ass next year when he joins Alfa. Nevertheless, still think “Battery Voltas” is also appropriate in this hybrid age of F1.
Apples and oranges. The Ferrari sensor(s) issue straight-up all had to do with tricking the system regarding the 100 liters/hour fuel consumption limit which is in place for all moments of time. Whereas the Mercedes sensor(s) involved the location of where the intake temperature is measured.
The thermodynamics of that are:: that slow moving air has greater pressure and thereby greater temperature than faster moving air. The legalistic assessment is that the rules, in this tiny area, need to be tightened up.
That, or the car is just a pig to drive, so changing conditions make it difficult to get the most out of it.
Let's see how Leclerc does tomorrow in the race or how the car does in the race. Can Leclerc hold his P3 position given it's a dry track??
Also, this is just my opinion, but let's hope Lewis doesn't DNF tomorrow during the race. Damage limitation in just taking an ICE unit plus an exhaust change for a 10 spot grid penalty. Let's hope his TC or MGU-H or MGU-K doesn't go "bang!!!" during the race. I think Mercedes is taking a big risk here.
I expect Wally to make room for Max and his future semi-teammate if Eclair has enough pace before fading. Also expect Max to lead in points after the race is over with Ham nailing down P2 after Bottles suffers a problem in the pits derived primarily from possibly finishing second otherwise.
How is it apples and oranges? Ferrari was suspected of doing what they did, but there was no way of knowing until the FIA introduced a sensor specifically for Ferrari. All this requires is move the existing sensor to a location where a more accurate reading can be made, as the current location of the sensor for Mercedes, with their engine layout, their sensor can be placed in an position that gives an advantageous reading if you're cooling the air in the airbox. So if they're doing just that, they are very much tricking the system.
Starting from 11th (barring a mid field crash in the first two laps) should make it easy for Lewis to win the race. Red Bull and Max are fading under the pressure, Mercedes and Hamilton are dealing with it and now winning. It's all about having the confidence to win...Lewis and his side have it, Max and his team are losing it. Lewis could wrap up his 8th WDC in the next 3 or 4 races if RB and Max don't get their act back together. I haven't sensed any fire in the belly of the other teams, except for Alonzo and Alpine, and McLaren and Norris. I feel the Ferrari drivers are doing their best, but the team seems lack luster. Hope it stays dry and clean tomorrow. Would like to see some surprises.
Based on race simulations if Charles is in the top 3 after lap 1, only one that should be able to overtake him is Hamilton. Lec went for straight line speed in set up, if the engine is as good as it seems, he'll be difficult to overtake on the backstraight
Yep. If it's clear cut they're not messing with the system, why would they object to a relocation of the sensor? Ludicrous.
