Exposed cording on the tires that were changed. Dangerous. So Mr Isola says from Pirelli. The tires that changed at lap 47 or so.

He did but what was his pace in terms of time - the #'s. His carcasses were exposed. You lose time like that.

I did see the cords on Leclerc’s front right on one of those shots he was going off. Good result for Ocon, but it was a gamble, for certain,

Most likely not unless he pitted, it’s a toss up but he most likely would’ve come ahead of perez if he pitted earlier?

Ocon's car is quite different from Lewis's car. Ocon was 3 to 4 seconds off the pace while Lewis's car was faster with more downforce.

Big gamble for Lewis IF he chose to go to the end......but a gamble for Ocon as well.

I think it would have been a good battle. He kept a 15-sec delta to him after Sergio pitted. Not certain he would have jumped him in the pits but he could have fought him on fresher tires.

LH wanted a result similar to Max in Sochi. Didn’t happen, but he still had a solid result

Mario Isola: Every car is different so the level of wear is different and how hard they push. More or less all the tyres were with exposed cords. Not only [Ocon's car] most of the cars that stopped after lap 47/48s tyres were completely finished.

Isola: We know that with the new asphalt and the grip it is more abrasive than last year and the track was not dry but still abrasive. I was instructing the engineers working he teams to pit the drivers for safety.

Seems like our new hybrid system is an important improvement compared to the former one.
Next year we will have a completely new ICE too.
Fortunately we will be able to win races on merit because I’m tired to see our team to try impossible things to win a race..

Horrible coverage. Sky Ham fans ignoring most of the race.

Ferrari drivers did a good job: Carlos running through the field, Charles hanging onto Max.
Of course, once the dry line appeared and the inters became slicks, passing got harder.
Ferrari pit -- not so great.
    Botched Sainz's pit stop.

And both Charles and Ham suffered from changing strategy at the wrong time.
Leave 'em out or bring 'em in. But don't try to do both.
Leaving them out until you suffer losses and THEN bringing them in is the worst of both worlds.
Ham inflicted that on himself. Charles got it from the "let's lose" Ferrari pit wall.

Yes, Bottas passed. And likely Max would have too (give or take the steering wheel issue).
But he might have held third.
But if staying out was the wrong call, then they should have gone conservative and pitted earlier.
Pick a strategy and go with it.

Ferrari again producing results worse than the drivers were worth.

Lack of ponies will not serve Ferrari well in Austin.

Even the hybrid system will evolve even more for 2022. Binotto's team is getting there, next year it's full attack on WDC/WCC, no excuses.

I think both underperformed in their ''penalty'' races. Max's result was looking like **** until the rain arrived, and when the rain arrived he made the right call and put in a fantastic performance in those few laps.

Lewis had great pace early on but made a mistake ignoring his team. Had he listened to them he'd have been P3 with ease. I think he pushed the tyres quite hard early on (same mistake Max made in Sochi), Mercedes had to pit him as they couldn't risk the tyre exploding at the end.

Mercedes with the momentum? Pace overall seems better per Ted and Toto. Mercedes say they have better understanding of the car overall since summer break. Certainly since Netherlands they seem a touch stronger. Autsin I think is close for both but Mexico should be full RedBull place to win.

Definitely a lacking race coverage on anything not ham, more British bias or just not much else happening?

On Ted Post Race walk - Unused race tires(mostly the dry this weekend lol) are sent to a plant in the UK to be used for energy generation. They are heated to a given temperature where no toxic gases are produced, and make electricity.

F messed up Leclerc's strategy and Merc LH's. RB wins.

F scores with the gem: If you don't lose you win.
Kimi would have appreciated an update like that.

Quite enjoyed that. Congrats to Bot for a commanding victory. That was a surprise as he isn’t very good in the wet.

Solid from RB. Good drives and good strategy.

Ham and Lec paid the price for poor strategic decisions in the car and on the pit wall. It was clear from the radio calls that Ferrari had no clue what they should do. And mercs keystone cops style debate between Ham and the pit wall for several laps cost them third. Weak.

Finally, the stewards all need to be fired. Why was Ocon penalised? An utter debacle of a decision which makes a mockery of the sport. Disgraceful.

It is comical how F1 tries to put an environmental spin on the basic fact that they make tires that have to be thrown away after they are mounted to a rim. The whole carbon neutral objective by the sport is a joke. Drivers talking about saving the world but not hesitating for a second to put a fresh set of tires on the last lap in order to go for that extra point.

    Agreed - disgraceful indeed.

But at least, the stewards are consistent in their inconsistency. :D:D:D
