I expect Merc to lead Austin in quali (if dry) by 3 or so tenths. Mexico should favour the Bulls a bit more. Shorter track though so probably only a tenth or so in it.

Bono, I Told You - YouTube

Agrees to pit, then instantly blames the team. Full radio uncensored. Berates team with his ''I told yous'' (he didn't). He was losing a second a lap to Gasly ffs, and the drop off with the tyres would've been even more given the carcass came through.

Now lets look at this other guy that lost a guaranteed podium (of which he only had 1 so far this season!) and his reaction, due to a daft strategy:

"No regrets" for Leclerc or Ferrari over Turkey F1 tyre strategy (motorsport.com)

Lewis is classless. "we win and lose as a team" he says. Except when they lose. Then it's the teams fault.

For clarity, Lewis was informed of the lap times that Bottas and others around him where doing. He has a giant display that says whatever times he's doing. See laptimes here, Bottas on left Lewis right. Lewis knew he was losing nearly a second a lap. He knew the new inters where the way to go. But he refused to listen to the team. HE decided to extend and it put them in the position they where in. The drop off in tyres was enormous once they became really worn: Ocon hit the cliff with 5 laps to go, he started to lap 3-5 seconds a lap slower than his normal pace. Imagine the radio from his Lewisness had he continued and the tyres went off or exploded?

If you listen to every driver instead of just Lewis, you will find that drivers question their teams about pitting all the time. Why are you acting like this is unique to Lewis? Did you see Vettel ask for slicks? Or are you excluding all other drivers and only criticizing Lewis as usual?

Penalty was a bit stiff:: it completely ruined Alonso's race !
    {although Alonso did himself no good later that lap spinning someone else.}

Stewards kind of messed up but hey its now the normal in F1.They so obsessed with safety but then you can drive around at 200 mph with tires down to the canvas ..oh ok then.

Binotto: "I'll say it quite clearly. Third place in the championship is our goal. It teaches the team to work under the pressure of a clearly defined goal."

This is important for Ferrari, if they want to fight for wins in 2022 again.

Ferrari does not talk much about their new hybrid system. Only this:

Binotto: "Our most important goal in introducing it this year was to gain experience for next year. But it also brings advantages that we can't quantify in terms of lap time. It helps us in the battles."

Binotto: "With our old hybrid system, we probably would have ended up two places further back."

We can only speculate on what the advantages of the new Ferrari hybrid system are. More electric power in the acceleration phase. The Ferrari goes into charging mode later on the straights. Carlos and Charles were among the fastest cars on the straights in Istanbul.

Mattia Binotto will miss both the #MexicoGP & #BrazilGP this year.

Binotto: "I will also miss the Mexico and Brazil GP, because we are in a crucial phase of the 2022 project."

Norris was far worse than LH in Sochi race. He refused to come in at all. LH questioned then complied. This is news?

Bottas won the race. Drove well and hardly was troubled by Max or anyone else and in MIXED conditions. Much more interesting story over all than one questioning the team then changing tires.

Even Charles had his doubts. Sounds like a normal F1 race.

Bottas called it correctly himself: This was his best performance in F1 to date. I can't disagree with that really. He was in a class of one. Sadly for him, unnoticed by everyone really.

The most significant development of late not about tires and rain or radio with drive and team - Its this to me below. Oh I know its Mercedes cheating again and paying off the FIA. They sent a courier to Todt but was not seen carrying cash, just his favorite straw-berry preserves for his morning bread lol :)

Red Bull surprised at "significant" Mercedes F1 power boost
    By: Jonathan Noble
    Oct 11, 2021, 4:47 AM
Red Bull says a "surprising" engine power step from Mercedes has left it struggling for answers about how best to stop its Formula 1 title rival pulling clear.

In the wake of Max Verstappen having no answer for the pace of Valtteri Bottas in the Turkish Grand Prix, Red Bull team boss Christian Horner thinks that the competitive picture between the two F1 title rivals has shifted in recent weeks.

Whereas Red Bull appeared to hold a pace advantage heading in to the summer break, he believes that the arrival of Mercedes' latest specification of engines at Spa has boosted the German car manufacturers' straightline speed.

And, while previously Red Bull could counter any top speed advantage from Mercedes by running a lower downforce configuration, now Horner says the gap between the two teams is too big to be able to do that.

Proof of that came in the way that Lewis Hamilton was able to draft past Sergio Perez on the back straight in Turkey at one point in the race, despite running a higher downforce rear wing.

Leclerc's race engineer gave him a "sorry wrong number" response late in the race, and Sainz's bungled pitstop? Not necessarily so.

Yes but since it's mercedes it must be perfectly normal, the FIA knows it's always the others that cheat to gain advantage, in fact they know that if Mercedes aren't afstest by some margin, someone is cheating.

Good graphic showing how fast Sainz was at the end after he passed Ocon. Though for sure the leaders were cruising he could have picked up a couple more places if he had a couple more laps.

If there's nothing wrong, move the sensor to a sensible place. See if the theory holds.

Ferrari got given an extra sensor. If there is nothing wrong, there is no problem doing it and Mercedes can show they're playing by the rules. Simple!

I suspect what we heard on the radio was from some laps earlier and looking at the graphic I posted you can see that Leclerc has a similar pace to Bottas when Bottas was going through the graining phase with his new inters.

So Leclerc and HAM were both putting off the tire change either for conditions to change so they’d get onto slicks with one less pit stop or hoping the inters would survive with a steady rain drizzle to keep them cool. In fact it dried out a bit and they probably got more wear than expected and killed the performance of the tires.

If Brundle was part of the Sky crew yesterday he would have reminded everyone that when the rubber tread on the tire wears down so much, there’s not enough mass to keep the temperature up so tires cool down and the performance is compromised. Which is especially what happened with HAM.
