IIRC, if he pitted under green he'd have come out around 12-13th place. Not being gifted 5 places through the mistakes of others isn't the same as getting screwed.
To note: with all the games at the DRS line, nobody drove into the other… like a certain GOAT did, ha-ha.
He did pit under green, and he steadily made up 6 places at the start of the race. As I said before, if he wasn't screwed by the VSC, 5th wasn't out of the question. Ham was dragging that car around, especially since they did no major changes to the setup. If Merc ever sort the problems out he absolutely will be up for the odd win, possibly more.
Let's stay classy. RB had the better setup. They gave us a run for our money and took it fair and square. Nothing overtly dirty happened. This was the best track for RB with the longest straights and DRS zones. They barely beat us at it, and we still got 2-3, plus Mercedes nowhere. Australia, Imola, Miami, Barcelona, and Azerbaijan should all fit our car design extremely well, and if the team bring some upgrades, so much the better. What Ferrari need to focus on is obviously tracks where straight line speed is decisive, and there will be tons of them in the second after half of the season. The team better see that issue now, now later when it's too late.
NOOOOOOOO MICKEY, NOOOOOOOOO This is sooooooooooo not right!!! (Silence) HELLLOOO MICKEY??????? (More silence) HELLLLLLOOOOOOO?????? (Even more silence) Where are you, Mickey?????
I’m not sure about Baku, we’ve got better traction but if it comes down to a SC and the RB get close on the main straight it’s gonna be impossible to defend.
Melbourne track has changed, it's faster since they took out the lakeside chicane. Baku is a fast track--->turns 16t thru 20 are full on pedal-to-the-medal.
Impossible? Without the yellow in Sec 1, Charles would've repassed Max. RB barely hung on at the track the best suits their car design.
It going to be an interesting season. RB and Ferrari are pretty closely matched. I expect Mercedes will be back in the hunt soon. It might come down to reliability and racing luck. Its that close.
Yes, I'm aware the Melbourne has changed, and the track will still play to our advantages. It's not a mostly throttle track like today. The setup was the key today. We were evenly matched with Red Bull, too.
Maybe in June or July they'll be more near the front, but even that's not a given. They've got more than one problem to sort, all while Ferrari and RBR will be upgrading. Don't forget Mercedes also have less windtunnel time now, putting them on the backfoot even more.
