It's hard to compare since Max tires were 9 laps older, but it looks pretty good from Charles....

    True.

It's all a coin toss. If he'd gone in and HAM didn't AND the weather held then Hamilton wins, and we'd be all talking about that instead.

If both HAM and NOR stayed out, then Max would have won. And we'd be talking about THAT.

Oooooo. Alonso would break the internet. The man over 40yo still show signs of brilliance in the Alpine.

To be fair, Leclerc has been faster more often than not, and he would have more points if he had a bit more luck.

Having said all that, I´ve underrated Sainz in the past too, but the comparison with Leclerc, who has been with the team for longer and knows the car well as it´s almost the same than last year, is quite promising.

I also think that Leclerc... maybe overrated is not the right word, but I think we still we don´t have enough evidence.

Great race... nail biter for sure and pure heartbreak for Lando.

What is the deal with the pitstops... I understand the change and the more manual release and all that, but it seems that so many teams... even RB are struggling with the stops in general. 4,5, even 10 second stops. Everyone seems to be struggling with the stops themselves. I don't understand how or if the rule change is affecting the stops

Most teams had certain procedure in place. Imagine you've driven on the right side of the road your entire life, then suddenly you switch to the left. Occasional mistakes are made then...

But it seems like the issues are getting wheels on and off lately... it's all teams it seems. How does that relate to the rule change? Or are the issue entirely something else? It seems that a lot of these stops 4+ seconds

I assume that has something to do with heat expansion given the tremendous temperatures generated by the brakes and drivetrain?

I watch Charles ever since he was in f3....Sainz in not even close, he did improve a lot upon arriving in f.1, but the diference between them is still big. Pironi was able to qualify ahead of Gilles from time to time, but on a normal day he was so far behind he couldn't even see Gille car on the grid. Today we don't see this kind of diferences between drivers because the cars are much easier to drive, and teh pilot can make less diference, but believe me, on a normal day, without any problems, Carlos is lucky if he stays in .3 tenths of Charles...

Also this year Ferrari is a lot more stable than the sf1000, i belive if sainz was driving that car against Charles, he would be much further behind....

He's driven by the sense that Lewis' career should have been his. While LH *may* be losing some edge having been in his sustained position for quite a while, Alonso is fueled by the belief that HE should be the one with 100 wins under his belt. From a skills standpoint, it could have been his story, certainly. From a political standpoint, he is his own worst enemy.

It is hard to gather that evidence with the cars we have given him in the last two years, but yes, you make a valid point.

Guy's a legend while choosing the wrong car for over a decade.
Would probably still win a poll against LH.
