Formula One officials have come to Miami to inspect proposed venue locations. Homestead/ISC is already preparing for war by hiring a Tallahassee lobbying firm to post online petitions and taking out full page ads, riling up the rubes against F1 in Miami. any idea on potential sites? as mentioned elsewhere I don't see Bayfront Park viable any more. too much traffic, too many anti-racing/car/noise neighbors. Tamiami park? around Marlins or Hard Rock stadiums, a la Meadowlands? Virginia Key/Marine Stadium?
Sounds like another parking lot race. https://www.espn.co.uk/f1/story/_/id/27131248/f1-determined-secure-miami-grand-prix
Look, they already have a track set up. It could work! In all seriousness, if you zoom out on the property map you can make a 5000ft (1.5km) straight on the stadium property itself. It may work out. Image Unavailable, Please Login
If it’s autocross you could teach them all how to do it buddy (I seem to remember you have done that for a long time, I may be remembering wrongly...... morphine on the brain isn’t a good mixture!)
They're ready to go. Safer barriers and all. Image Unavailable, Please Login Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
The last news we've received in Miami about the potential Grand Prix was that the downtown option wasn't workable. As many predicted, Ross wants the venue to be at Hard Rock Stadium. But, this isn't exactly what Liberty is looking for. Liberty wants to visual of downtown Miami, the buildings, palm trees, beautiful water, big cruise liners, etc. not Miami Gardens which is the polar opposite of downtown Miami. The proposed downtown venue has too many land use issues which threw the whole thing off. Areas which are designated as parks cannot be used. Other areas would require paving but if they do this, then entire major shopping and dining areas get cut off from their patrons, all this... It was a good notion but I seriously don't think it's going to happen. BHW
Reminds me of CART's Meadowlands Grand Prix from 1984 through 91. Set up in the parking lot around Giants Stratum.
I went to the CART Meadowlands race one year, and as a spectator, it really wasn't too bad. But this course reminds me more of Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas....
I take it. Heck, I take any F1 GP in Miami. Tired of going to Austin, which no longer embraces the GP but instead celebrates some college football gig. And after having gone regularly to the Montreal GP, that too eventually gets a little old.
