The head of Formula One has told a Swiss magazine on Tuesday that the circuit will return to Montreal in 2010. The circuit took the Canadian Grand Prix off the calendar this season because circuit chief Bernie Ecclestone could not agree to financial terms with race organisers. It marked the first time since 1987 that no F1 race was held in Montreal. But Ecclestone, who said in April that F1 was in negotiations to bring the race back for 2010, confirmed in Tuesday's edition of Motorsport Aktuell magazine that "we'll be driving in Montreal again in 2010. "Everyone in Formula One loves the Canadian Grand Prix," Ecclestone said. In the interview, he also ruled out a return to Indianapolis, which was dropped in 2007, and would like to add races in South Korea and India.
AMAZING FRIGGIN NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! http://www.carzi.com/2009/08/04/2010-montreal-f1-canadian-grand-prix/ http://www.tsn.ca/auto_racing/story/?id=286700
Awesome News!!!! Without it the car scene in Montreal really died out, hopefully next year with the return of the GP everything will be back to normal!
Just read the article in The Star.......http://www.wheels.ca/reviews/article/781253 Its great news! Montreal is the best party and venue on the F1 calendar! Thank Goodness Bernie finally realized that there is no hope or future in any of those pathetic new countries/circuits on this years schedule. Montreal rules! But lets still be "cautiously optimistic" about this news story........until the cars are on the track is when I'll believe it.!
That is amazing F1 will come back to North America just to race in Canada. Usually they want the double events run on the continent. CH
The organizers of the event and the Mayor of the city are saying something different. No new deal has been agreed to. I think this confirms that Bernie has lost it! http://en.f1-live.com/f1/en/headlines/news/detail/090804182325.shtml

Bernie is ever the shrewd negotiator. Announcing that Canada will be back clearly puts him on record as saying 'he wants it', so if you're the poor sap in Montreal on the other end of the negotiation, you're going to look like a total goat if you don't get the deal done. I'm praying that this finally gets sorted. My summer was robbed of it's annual highlight, and I can tell you, going to Turkey for that Grand Prix was absolutely no match. Viva la Montreal!!
