I've used the official iPad app for the last two seasons (paid version) and thought it was worthwhile, so on Friday I bit the bullet and paid the higher annual fee for the 2015 version. Stupid new version wouldn't show me the paid screens, just had the "buy now" buttons, but when I clicked them it would say paid subscription purchased with a check mark. All weekend it wouldn't show me the extra screens, despite closing the app, restarting the iPad, etc.

    It is a real disaster!

Can you watch the race live or video of it later with the paid subscription?

It'll run too slow, crash for no apparent reason, the updates won't come fast enough and it'll end up well behind the times! :p

I just now found it!...... I've got it loaded (for one price!) on both the iPad & the phone and was poking at it on the phone.

-Start the app; gives the BS about "next up - practice 1" in X hours. Worthless!....
    - hit the menu button @ top right.
    - select 'live timing & tracker'.
    - hit the (currently) 'R2' button
    - shows the time of all sessions in either your local time or race time. (FP1 starts in exactly one hour from now.....)

I've just got to remember which system I'm on as one is 'in' the UK, and that won't work at all for me! ;)

    Cheers,
    Ian

During the 2014 season, I received emails from F1.com after each Thursday press conference, practice, qualifying, and race session with reports, interview transcripts, analysis, etc.

I don't get them anymore and particularly miss the interview transcripts. Is this still available or only for subscribers?

I still get them, but I paid for it, so maybe. Having said that, I'd be very surprised if they took that stuff to being paid only. Have you registered again this season? I'm not sure, but seem to recall you need to register every year (?)

No video. However, you can download all the data for replay. If you DVR the race (or any other sessions come to that) its easy to sync the two feeds and enjoy all that lovely data as you watch.

Should add, there are a *lot* of "race edit" videos available too. Not the whole race, but some pretty good summaries and highlights.

    Cheers,
    Ian

If you are in the USA you can watch all sessions, either life or on replay from NBC Sports.

Anyone in the US found a way to watch F1 coverage WITHOUT comcast?
I guess Bernie is not giving us options, but has anyone found a creative way?

-NBC sports allows me to watch a feed on my appletv, only after I verify that I am comcast subscriber with that channel entitlement

    -HD would be nice
-it does not have to be live
-i cannot always find the time (and hall pass) to watch it at a sports pub, kart track, or the F-car dealership
-i am happy to pay for streaming, subscription, or per race
-the new F1 access from formula1.com has everything but the live feed and commentary
-how about some foreign channel on demand subscription that carries F1 and then setting it to a Euro proxy server to get around the geo restriction?

Or....maybe live and archived race footage is coming to formula1? I pay 100-something for comcast and I pretty much watch only F1. I cut the chord for all the other stuff and have netflix and appletv for movies.

    Hi,

    There are many, many options.....

    1. [Used by many here, but only "live"] Our very own "Speedcore" generally starts every FP, qualy & race thread with a link to a stream. Sometimes there's a lot of ads before it starts I believe, but it's free & generally works well.

    2. After the event, apparently "torrents" appear that you can download. Something I've never done, but I'm sure someone will explain further if you're interested.

    3. I haven't looked this year, but last Sky in the UK were offering a "Sports Subscription" for the weekend - Got you every Sky Sports channel from, IIRC, FP1 through Sunday evening at least. Trouble was (is?), I think they wanted ~$30 per weekend! I (OK, someone else, just in case ;)) asked if they'd *just* give us the F1 channel for a reduced price (one of their 6-7 channels) - I'd pay, I dunno, $10 per weekend - It's a cool channel.... They never responded. :(

    4. If you know someone in the UK (or, I guess elsewhere in Europe) with a Sky Sports subscription that'll "share" their login, you can piggyback off that once you've VPN'd yourself to the UK (or wherever). I use "Strongvpn", $55 per year. No ads, and a *rock* solid, fast connection. In my case (Apple, but I believe Android too), you need a UK iTunes account in order to download the Sky app from the store. Start the VPN, then the app, and all Sky sports channels are at your fingertips...... [Apparently, they're "happy" at up to two simultaneous logins, so it's all good.]

There may be other ways, but #4 works for me. :)

    Cheers,
    Ian

    thanks, Ian. Very helpful.

I see the speedcore posts with a link to squirrelstreams. Sleep is overrated.
Torrents are the most uncomfortable option.

Paying for SKY (they have an expat option) and getting the strong VPN might be the most legit way to bypass comcast. It is a variation your #4.

I use GPGuide.com for news, Planet F1 and Fchat for news.

F1 is so boring that I do not watch live any more...so no need of Live Timing. I record the races so I can watch when I want, FF or rewind as the spirit moves me. Works for me.

    Sure. That works!....

As long as you've got an NBCSN feed. (And sometimes, NBC, others NBC business etc!)

Trouble is, that typically comes 'bundled' in a sports package add on to Comcast/Directv/etc. for many additional dollar.....

    Cheers,

Same here. But now I use this website:
    https://www.f1calendar.com/

You choose your time zone and it gives you the times of the race, quali and the practices as well.
